Twice a year, Mary Alice Sosby and her friends place an order with Ale-8-One. But this order is a little different than most; its order is being shipped thousands of miles away. Sosby and five of her high school friends began the Rowdy Golden Girls Homemakers nearly 11 years ago in an effort to serve the local area. “We wanted to do projects to give back to the community,” said Sosby, president of the group. “We've given to so many different charities.” Among some of the groups helped by the homemakers are local Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops, 4-H club and the Clark County's Backpack Program, which provides hunger relief to starving families across the county.

I just got back from another homemaker meeting. My homemaker group decided to continue meeting throughout the summer months instead of taking a break. Tonight we took a sack supper and headed to the Bluegrass Heritage Museum. This time we viewed the Civil War period exhibits. As usual, it was a wonderful treat to go through the museum. I have toured the exhibits at the museum on at least seven separate occasions, and each time I go I learn something new or see something I had never noticed before.
