The Cincinnati Reds and WVLK-FM 101.5 have teamed up to offer Lexington area residents the chance to enjoy the excitement of Reds baseball at a special discount. Lexington Community Night will take place Saturday, May 26, as the Reds take on the Colorado Rockies at 7:15 p.m. at Great American Ball Park. Lexington residents and those of surrounding areas can purchase discount tickets for most non-premium seating locations. The first 20,000 fans in attendance at the game will receive a Scott Rolen Gold Glove Award Replica Trophy presented by Kahn's.

 The Danville-Boyle County Chamber of Commerce will host the February Business After Hours 4:30-6:30 p.m. today at R Brown Properties, 412 S. Fourth St. The event is open to chamber members and to potential chamber members. Business After Hours events are designed to help attendees build a network and make connections. All businesses that are chamber members also may send any employee to the event. It is a chance to share information and services about the business or organization, while developing the network.

Nicholasville Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts are hosting a holiday food drive. Scouts will deliver fliers throughout neighborhoods Saturday, Dec. 1, and return to pick up food the following Saturday, Dec. 8. Residents who receive a flier can leave food by their door, on their driveway or in their mailbox. Donations are also being accepted through Dec. 7 at The Jessamine Journal office, located at 507 N. Main St. in Nicholasville.

STANFORD - Cedar Creek Sportsman Club will host the Kentucky Open Pointing Field Trial March 17-18. Some of the top dogs from several states will compete for more than $4,000 in prize money and the honor of Kentucky Open Grand Champion for 2012. The event falls on a Saturday and Sunday. Breakfast will be available 7-8 a.m. and lunch 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. A country ham breakfast will be served Saturday morning and pork loin for lunch. Breakfast also will be served Sunday morning and ribeye steak for lunch.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bluegrass will host an event for current Bigs and Littles from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sept. 22. The event will also include children and adults who are on the waiting list to be matched, and will serve as an opportunity for the public to find out more about the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. The event will be held at a warehouse on the corner of 2nd Avenue and Midland Avenue where Big Brothers Big Sisters Board Chair Mike Scanlon stores and displays several classic cars.

The East Jessamine High baseball team will host its 10th annual golf scramble Sept. 13. Registration time is set at noon and play will begin at 1 p.m. The scramble will be held at High Point Golf Course. West Jessamine girls' soccer coach Kevin Wright is giving local youth an opportunity to learn the game just as his several championship clubs have throughout the years. On June 10-13 and/or June 17-20 (6-8 p.m.), Wright is hosting the Tough As Nails soccer camp for inviduals and teams consisting of boys and girls ages 4-14. The camp will be held at the Southland Christian Church soccer field on the Harrodsburg Road Campus. “I just like to see the development of soccer in Jessamine County and the surrounding counties,” Wright said.

The Central Kentucky Wildlife Refuge will host the first of two spring wildflower walks at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 30. The walk is on the Martha B. Clay Wildflower Trail, which begins near the North Rolling Fork, just past the bridge on Carpenters Creek Road off Ky. 37. This easy, half-mile trail includes both cliffside and riverside segments. The walk will be led by Rob Pendygraft, the refuge's caretaker.  Participants should wear sturdy, comfortable shoes and long socks that can be stretched over pants to protect from ticks and should dress for the weather.

There will be a pancake breakfast followed by an Easter egg hunt on Saturday, March 23, at 8:30 a.m. Good Friday service will be at 7 p.m. on March 29. LANCASTER - The Lancaster Ministerial Association, in partnership with the Lancaster Grand Theatre, will present the movie “The Passion of the Christ” March 29 and 30 at the Lancaster Grand Theatre, 117 Lexington St. Showtimes are 7 p.m. March 29 and 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. March 30. Cost is $5. “The Passion of the Christ” is a 2004 American drama directed by Mel Gibson and starring Jim Caviezel as Jesus Christ. It depicts the passion of Jesus as presented in the New Testament gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, focusing upon the last 12 hours of the life of Jesus of Nazareth.

Some of the top dogs from several states will compete for $7,400 in prize money and the honor of being Kentucky open grand champion for 2013. A country ham breakfast will be served Saturday morning, and pork loin will be served for lunch. Breakfast also will be served Sunday morning, and ribeye steak will be served for lunch. Breakfast will be available from 7-8:30 a.m. and lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Sportsman's Club is six miles east of Stanford on U.S. 150 across the road from Cedar Creek Lake.

LEXINGTON, Ky. -   After a playing its last three games on the road, the 10th-ranked Kentucky women's basketball team returns to the friendly confines of Memorial Coliseum on Sunday, March 3 for its final regular season game of the season vs. No. 8 Tennessee. The game will be televised live on ESPNU and WatchESPN. It also will be carried on the UK IMG Sports Radio Network with Neil Price. Fans can follow the UK Hoops team on Twitter at @UKHoopCats and use #UKHoops to comment on the game.
