President Barack Obama might have some fancy digs at which to host the annual Easter egg roll on the White House lawn, but Tasha Key puts on a pretty egg-cellent Easter shindig herself. About 75 kids descended on the backyard of Key's Greenview Drive home Saturday afternoon, where some 4,500 eggs lay in wait. Eggs that Keys and her family had been filling since February - 4,100 with candy and 400 with cash - all of them scooped up within minutes. “The whole yard was covered.

The festival, now in its second year, is an “eating event” - hungry stomachs are a must - and will feature activities for children as well as cooking demonstrations to go with the good eats. Festival organizers Brad and Cindy Simmons said last year's festival drew several thousand people. Last year's pitmasters are returning this year.

East Jessamine's Seth Hunt will be playing Division I football in the fall after signing with Eastern Kentucky University last month. The senior has been recruited as a fullback by the Colonels. Hunt had a productive senior year on both sides of the ball, but his junior year was cut short by a torn ACL. “I've watched the young man grow up ... went through the heart break of the torn ACL and had a few tears with him and watched him come back his senior year,” East Jessamine coach Mike Bowlin said.

With walls decorated by memorabilia from the likes of John Travolta and Elizabeth Taylor and structures built and furnished over 63 theater seasons, it's easy to imagine why the TV show “American Pickers” might be attracted to Pioneer Playhouse and what they may have taken with them when they left. Unfortunately, due to a pesky confidentially contract between Playhouse owner Charlotte Henson and the show, all we can do is imagine. What we do know is that the History Channel's show hosts, Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz, spent time and money there earlier this month, filming an episode that likely will run in early summer.

There could not have been a more beautiful day for Wilmore's annual Easter-egg hunt at Centennial Park on Saturday, parks and recreation director Amy Fitch said. Dozens of children, from infants to 10-year-olds, convened at the park located behind the Ichthus grounds to meet the Easter Bunny and search for hidden treasure in the grass. “I'm just out here with my granddaughter,” Wilmore Mayor Harold Rainwater said. “I try to come out here every year; it really is a nice event, beautiful day, and Amy just does an amazing job.“ With only a few white puffy clouds in the sky, Fitch and Rainwater both agreed conditions could not be better but that there were fewer children than in year's past.
