Standing at the end of the aisle in the department store, I heard loud noises from someone coming closer. “Woo who, boo boo, waahhh waahhh.” The weird sounds were coming from a lady walking down the aisle. And the closer she got to me, the louder her babbling became. She looked to be 60 something, and the younger woman following close behind her I assumed to be the older lady's 20-something daughter. “Poor lady,” I thought. “She must have some disability and is unable to control her voice.

Jeanette Terry, 68, of Junction City died Wednesday, Dec. 5. Born Feb. 19, 1944, Jeanette was a daughter of Jean Godbey of Liberty and the late Lloyd Barber. She attended New Life Ministries Church. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Todd. Survivors include her husband, Edwin Terry; two sons, Scott (Tracy) Terry and Rodney Barber; and grandchildren, Dakota and Abby Terry. Funeral services were Dec. 7 at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home with Bro. Chuck Robinson officiating.

STANFORD - A Lincoln County grand jury has indicted a Stanford man on the charge he shook a 6-week-old infant. The infant's mother has also been indicted for complicity to assault. Lucas Vinyard, 29, of 108 Star Ave. in Stanford, is accused of shaking the infant daughter of Kisha Gosser on Aug. 17. He has been charged with first-degree assault. Police had not previously said anything about charges against Gosser, of 124 Star Ave., but the grand jury indicted her on one count of complicity to first-degree assault.

STANFORD - An infant who suffered hemorrhages and broken ribs after allegedly being shaken has been released from the hospital and is “doing well” while recovering in the care of relatives, state police said Friday. Lucas Vinyard, 29, of Star Avenue in Stanford, allegedly shook the 6-week-old daughter of Kisha Gosser on Aug. 17. When Gosser took her daughter to Fort Logan Hospital, police were notified an infant had been admitted with injuries consistent with child abuse. The infant was transferred to the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington for treatment.

STANFORD - A Stanford man was arrested Friday after confessing to shaking a 6-week-old girl. State Trooper Paul Blanton said Gosser and Vinyard are believed to be boyfriend and girlfriend. LANCASTER - A Lancaster couple are in custody for allegedly beating their 1-month-old son, police said. Amanda Cole, 19, and Larry A. Delaney, 30, of 109 S. Campbell St., were in the Lincoln County Regional Jail this morning on felony charges of first-degree assault and first-degree wanton endangerment. On Friday, Lancaster police officer Allen Weston responded to a Richmond Street residence where a relative of Cole's and a family friend had the infant, said Police Chief Rodney Kidd.

Infant botulism is an illness that can occur when an infant ingests bacteria that produce a toxin inside the body. The condition can be frightening because it can cause muscle weakness and breathing problems. But it is very rare: Fewer than 100 cases of infant botulism occur each year in the United States, and most babies who do get botulism recover fully. Infant botulism is treatable, but because of its severity, it's important to learn the symptoms so you can recognize it early.
