A 23-year-old woman and her 22-month-old daughter are dead after being stabbed Sunday at 233 Vaught Road. Winchester Police Capt. James Hall said officers were called to the scene at approximately 5:30 p.m. and found Danel Correy Stanton and her daughter, Kaydence Ray Miers, in a bedroom at the home, owned by Stanton's father, Robert Stanton. Danel Stanton's mother, Lilly Stanton, also had been stabbed, but was conscious when officers arrived. Robert and Lilly Stanton are divorced, but the two were both living in the house with their daughter and granddaughter.

A man accused of shooting and robbing a person of $200 remained in jail after his case was sent to the grand jury, and the woman who testified on his behalf went to jail as well. William Fulz, 34, of 15 Sterling St. Apt. 15, was arrested without incident on Feb. 26, hours after the alleged incident near 88 Tyler Banks Court. Winchester Police Capt. James Hall said he was called to Clark Regional Medical Center a couple hours after Earl McVey Jr. was shot once in the knee. McVey told police  that Fulz called him earlier in the evening of Feb. 26 and asked to meet him at 88 Tyler Banks, Hall said.

After two months of investigation and numerous undercover purchases, Winchester Police arrested the owner of Blue Haze for selling synthetic substances Wednesday afternoon. Officers executed a search warrant at the business Wednesday, a day after the last purchase by a confidential informant, Winchester Police Capt. James Hall said. Police took nearly $4,000 in cash and boxes of the simulated substances during the search. The owner, 39-year-old Mohammad Razzak of Lexington, was charged with sale or transfer of simulated substances.

One of Salem, Ore.'s most wanted people was captured earlier this week in Winchester thanks to an anonymous tip. Vencen Page, 24, of 138 Alabama St., was arrested Tuesday morning after Salem Police received a tip that Page was living here. Salem Police Lt. Steve Birr said in an email that Page is a suspect in an Oct. 24, 2011, armed robbery. None of his relatives or known associates knew where he was or claimed to have any contact with him. Detectives contacted Winchester Police, who located Page Tuesday morning at 138 Alabama St. and arrested him without incident, Winchester Police Capt.

A couple believed to have stolen more than $10,000 in merchandise from Walmarts across central Kentucky have been identified. Winchester Police Capt. James Hall said 36-year-old Hobert Buttery and 24-year-old Amanda Rader stole approximately $4,000 of electronics, including iPads, from the Winchester Walmart Jan. 9. Police currently have warrants for the Jackson County residents, but they have not been located. “We don't believe they're in Clark County. We believe they're in the southeastern part of the state,” Hall said.

A Winchester man was airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center early Saturday morning after receiving multiple stab wounds. According to Winchester Police Capt. James Hall, officers were called to The Steak House, 1464 W. Lexington Ave., after a fight broke out between Brian Albright, 21, and David Ritchie, 34. Albright stabbed Ritchie in the head and back, Hall said. "He's claiming it was a self-defense issue," Hall said, though officers are not certain what preceded the stabbing.

A Winchester man was arrested a short time after the Marathon station at the corner of Lexington and Carol roads was robbed Thursday night. According to Winchester Police Capt. James Hall, the Marathon clerk said a man walked into the store around 9 p.m., intimated he had a weapon and demanded money before physically assaulting him. After getting an unknown amount of money, the man fled the store and got into a Chevrolet Monte Carlo. As the man attempted to drive away, the clerk ran out of the store and broke the window of the vehicle with a baseball bat. After canvasing the area and reviewing the video tape from the store, Hall said, Police identified Shawn Frazier, 34, of 900 Westwood Drive, as a suspect.

Erin Hall and her infant daughter Michaela Evans were lucky to be in another room when someone fired a shotgun into their home in a case of mistaken identity Wednesday morning. Police charged 24-year-old Larry Patrick Jr. late Wednesday afternoon at his residence in the Phoenix House apartments after receiving a tip, Winchester Police Capt. James Hall said. Around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Eva Heath returned home to 116 Westside Drive to find a window shattered by a gunshot blast.

The other man killed in Monday’s home invasion shooting had a lengthy criminal history elsewhere, but apparently no record in Winchester. The second man was identified Monday afternoon as 24-year-old Demontez Cowherd of Lexington, following an autopsy in Frankfort, Winchester Police Capt. James Hall said. Cowherd is believed to be one of the people that forced their way into the home of 29-year-old Phillip Howard Jr. early Monday morning. At least five shots were exchanged, Hall said, with Cowherd being shot twice and Howard once.

A man drove himself to the Winchester Police Department after he was assaulted inside his own car early this morning. Ray Eldridge showed up at police headquarters at approximately 12:40 a.m. today with serious injuries to his head and upper body, Winchester Police Capt. James Hall said. Through a brief statement with detectives, Eldridge and witnesses identified Robert Campbell as the one who assaulted him, Hall said. The two men were in Eldridge’s car on Ingle Alley between Crescent Avenue and South Main Street when the assault occurred, Hall said.
