Tom Sullivan: Larry I got another questions for you about UK. Why is Bobby Perry's cousin's last name not on the back of his jersey? Larry: I do not know. I was only told that it was to avoid confusion with Bobby since they have the same last name.

Michael Bottoms is wearing another college's jersey, but only for a little while. Bottoms will be happy to put his Morehead State jersey back on soon enough, but this week he's sporting a shiny, new Birmingham-Southern jersey as he sees baseball from an entirely new angle. Bottoms is on the staff of the Mercer County Youth Baseball Camp being conducted by Birmingham-Southern coach Jan Weisberg. It's the first time he has participated in a baseball camp as anything other than a player, and it's something of a switch for him. "Six or seven years ago I was in their shoes," he said.

Timetam: Larry, where would Eddie get a Jacob Tamme UK jersey? I could not find any 18 jerseys on their website. I have two nephews who are big fans and would love to have one. Larry: I don't think there are any. That's why it was included as part of my Christmas fantasy gift column. Sorry for the confusion. But we are all big Jacob Tamme fans. Who wouldn't be? Hope they will have his jersey available next year.

Dear Editor, Coach Judie Mason, new head girls basketball coach for Danville, is a breath of fresh air. After playing for Danville for seven years, I was not going to return my senior year. Numerous members of the community approached me about the issue and I responded that I had simply lost the love for the game. However, when I went to Coach Mason's office to explain why I wasn't returning, I stepped into the office with the notion that I was walking away from the game forever and stepped out of it with a playbook in my hands.

If you have ever been around Patrick Barsotti, you know he's a bundle of energy. So when the 15-year-old Boyle County sophomore lost his appetite and energy, one had to wonder if something was wrong. Of course, considering the effort he puts into soccer and the fact that he's also a backup placekicker on the Boyle football team this year, it was easy to assume that he probably had just overdone it and was tired. Still, the normally energetic Barsotti was dragging enough that his parents decided to take him to the doctor Friday.

He means no disrespect to John Calipari's current players - and remember that Kentucky had the nation's No. 1 recruiting class last year again - but Metuchen (N.J.) St. Joseph High School athletics director Jerry Smith believes 6-11 sophomore Karl Towns is already better than anyone at UK¿now. “This is a special kid. We went to the Kentucky-Maryland game (in Brooklyn). We watched the game. I was watching the players at Kentucky right now and just taking in the overall game,” Smith said.

NEWARK, N.J. – Not long after Kentucky knocked Ohio State out of the NCAA Tournament, the Prudential Center was rocking. Minutes after Brandon Knight came to his team’s rescue with a jump shot with 5.4 seconds that sent the Wildcats to a 62-60 triumph over the top-seeded Buckeyes , the Kentucky band did its version of “My Old Kentucky Home” as Ohio State’s band found the nearest exit and left town. The lights then became dim, the arena’s sound system boomed with native son Bruce Springsteen’s hit “Glory Days.” Although Springsteen wasn’t in the building in person, his song was the right song at the right time.

Growing up in Iowa, Bart Bredar didn't know anything about the Harrodsburg Tankers. When he began teaching at the Mercer County Ninth Grade Academy, he said he drove past the tank on U.S. 127 but assumed it was a local memorial for Army veterans. Then, Bredar got the chance to learn about the Tankers. As part of the curriculum at the school, Bredar showed the KET documentary "Bataan: The Harrodsburg Tankers," a film about the Tankers' impact on World War II. Bredar said he was surprised that so few people knew about the significance the men had on World War II and the community.

LEXINGTON - Randall Cobb might want to consider wearing No. 12 for the remainder of the season. Cobb made the switch from No. 18 to the number worn by senior Dicky Lyons in honor of his teammate after he went down with a season-ending knee injury in last week's disappointing 24-17 loss to South Carolina. Although the two players differ in experience, Cobb played like a veteran when the Wildcats needed it the most. The freshman receiver hauled in two clutch touchdown passes from starter Mike Hartline in the final five minutes, sending the Wildcats to a 21-20 triumph over the Razorbacks.
