LEXINGTON - On the same day he made his intentions known about entering the NBA draft - where he could be Kentucky's third overall No. 1 pick in four years - Nerlens Noel suddenly quit thinking about his future. Instead, he was saddened by the bombings at the Boston Marathon in his hometown. “That definitely affected me. Just growing up in that city, born and raised and to see that happen, you just can't think that (there's a) human being that could do that to people that run in the Boston Marathon from all over the country.

LEXINGTON - Kentucky freshman Willie Cauley-Stein never thought he would be a one-and-done player in college, so staying at UK rather than putting his name into the NBA draft was “easy" for him. “To leave this year, go late first round, or come back next year and have an opportunity to go really early … Plus, I enjoy school. It's not like I was in any hurry to leave,” said Cauley-Stein Monday. “I never thought I was going to be a one-and-done anyways so another year doesn't really mean very much, I guess.” He said his family “survived this far without whatever I was going to make in the pros, so what's another year or two?

RICHMOND - It's no secret Dominique Hawkins wanted to play basketball at Kentucky. This morning, the Madison Central standout made it official after announcing his plans to sign with the Wildcats in front of his family, friends and classmates during an assembly at the school. Hawkins turned down offers from Purdue, South Carolina, Tennessee Tech, Valparaiso, Western Kentucky, Murray State and Morehead State to sign with Kentucky. Butler coach Brad Stevens showed interest in Hawkins earlier this week, but Hawkins already had Kentucky penciled in as his school of choice.

CHICAGO - On the court, Andrew Harrison is an intense competitor - a Michael Kidd-Gilchrist or Deandre Liggins type. Off the court, he's just as intense and not afraid to voice his opinion. Not only did the future Kentucky point guard say that he though the McDonald's All-American Game - he had 10 points on 5-for-5 shooting, four assists, two rebounds and one steal in 18 minutes in Wednesday's game here - was a more prestigious event than the upcoming Jordan Brand Classic, but he's already tossing verbal barbs at Louisville. He admitted he had picked Louisville to reach the Final Four, but then told media members, "I hope Michigan wins (the national title)

ATLANTA (AP) - Kentucky coach John Calipari says sophomore point guard Ryan Harrow is transferring to Georgia State. Calipari says he supports Harrow's decision to be closer to his family in Atlanta. Calipari says the health of Harrow's father played a role in the decision. Harrow averaged 9.3 points per game as a freshman at North Carolina State in the 2010-11 season before transferring to Kentucky. He sat out the Wildcats' 2011-12 national championship season. Harrow averaged 9.9 points in 29 games, including 24 starts, for Kentucky last season.

Boyle County High School principal Will Begley knows coming off a NIT loss rather than a national championship might not create quite the same buzz for the John Calipari Satellite Camp at Boyle June 10, but he also knows Kentucky basketball fans. “I don't know what kind of crowd to expect, but Kentucky is Kentucky and fans love their hoops and love coach Calipari,” said Begley. Due to gym capacities there will be a limited number of spots available for the nine camps across the state, including the one at Boyle.

This could be the day that Kentucky's 2013-14 basketball roster starts taking a more definite shape. From the time UK's season ended with a NIT loss at Robert Morris, speculation has been rampant about who will - and who will not - be on John Calipari's team next season. Calipari has seven incoming freshmen - Aaron and Andrew Harrison, James Young, Marcus Lee, Derek Willis, Dakari Johnson and Julius Randle - that will definitely be on the roster. That leaves six more available scholarships.

He scored in double figures in 18 of Kentucky's last 24 games, but the final two games exposed every weakness that Ryan Harrow had, and they could have been his last two games with the Wildcats. Harrow started his collegiate career at North Carolina State, but transferred to Kentucky last season. He practiced daily against Marquis Teague, a strong, defensive-minded player who became a first-round NBA draft pick. The plan was for that seasoning to give Harrow a chance to become another of the productive point guards to play for coach John Calipari.
