A Nicholasville man was arrested by Kentucky State Police last week and charged with four counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor. Jeffrey M. Wooley, 52, appeared this past Monday for his initial arraignment and was appointed a public defender. Judge Bill Oliver entered a not-guilty plea on his behalf at that time. A joint task force of the Kentucky State Police electronic-crime branch and the FBI is investigating the case, Sgt. Bill Collins with the KSP said last Thursday.

LANCASTER - Members of the Buckeye Fire Department were responding to a fire about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday  when they located a structure burning at the intersection of Jack Turner Branch Road and Sugar Creek Road.  Crews noticed a man on the property. After putting out the fire, the unidentified male could not be located.  A Kentucky State Police arson investivator was contacted, according to Kentucky State Police, and is investigating the fire. There are no leads at this time.

LIBERTY - At 3:30 p.m. police were dispatched to the scene of an injury wreck north of Liberty. Kentucky State Police were also working the scene. More detailed information will be available Friday.

Across Kentucky, police are discovering methamphetamine labs in record numbers.   Through last month, 919 meth operations had been busted up statewide this year, according to Kentucky State Police figures. That number is expected to top 1,000 before year’s end.    Compared to 741 labs uncovered last year and only 309 in 2007, it appears that manufacturing the highly addictive and destructive drug is trending dangerously upward and provides ammunition for a renewed effort to curtail its production.

STANFORD - An investigation is under way within Lincoln County's Planning and Zoning office, according to Kentucky State Police. Although details are being kept quiet about who and what is being investigated, KSP Detective Mark Young confirmed his role in it. "Kentucky State Police is working an investigation at the request of Fiscal Court," Young said. "At this time we cannot comment on details. " The only details offered are that the investigation is being conducted within the Planning and Zoning office and that more information could be available by the end of this week.

LANCASTER - Kentucky State Police arrested a burglary suspect in north Garrard County on Friday afternoon. Brian W. Kibler, 36, of Georgetown, was charged with third-degree burglary and theft more than $300. Kibler was later released after posting a $1,000 bond. The alleged theft occurred Wednesday on Fox Ridge Road in River Run subdivision and involved approximately $2,400 worth of carpenters tools. All stolen items were recovered and returned to the victim.

LANCASTER - A 45-year-old Garrard County man was found unresponsive in the morning hours Sunday. The official cause of his death is still pending. Ray E. Puckett of 2067 Polly's Bend Road was found deceased in his bed after Kentucky State Police received a call to respond to his residence just before 8 a.m. An autopsy will be performed today in Frankfort. Police say no foul play is suspected.

Katrinna Featherston, daughter of Nicholasville resident Sharon Lanham, received a Forensic Services Support Award from the Kentucky State Police (KSP) on Oct. 10. A 17-year KSP employee, Featherston is a forensic laboratory supervisor at the KSP Central Laboratory Branch in Frankfort. She is a 1987 graduate of Jessamine County High School and a 1991 graduate of Western Kentucky University.

Boonesboro Road, or Kentucky Highway 627, was closed this afternoon due to a fatal accident in Madison County, according to a statement issued by the Kentucky State Police.   The accident involved a commercial vehicle and a passenger car. The closure is expected to last several hours, according to troopers.   The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has been notified and will be re-routing traffic and establishing detours.

STANFORD - A church hayride took a dangerous turn for a young boy Sunday night at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds. Jalen Smith, 8, was airlifted to the UK Children's Hospital, where he is listed in serious condition today. No information on the accident was available today from the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department or Kentucky State Police.

STANFORD - Two Stanford residents were arrested on drug charges after an assault complaint at 2277 Bowens Road Thursday evening. While Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputy John Williams was on his way to the scene, dispatch informed him that Franklin Anness, 55, was in the process of destroying a meth lab, according to a news release. Upon William's arrival, Lisa M. Hawkins, 45, said Anness had placed the meth lab in the garbage and gave Williams permission to search the residence.

A young Kentucky State Police trooper died Tuesday night in Clark County when his pickup truck collided with a tow truck on Interstate 64. Trooper Anson Blake Tribby, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene near the eastbound 99-mile marker, according to the state police. Tribby was off duty and in a Toyota pickup truck at the time of the crash, police said. State police have not released how the crash occurred. Clark County firefighters were called to the crash scene at 7:17 p.m. Tuesday, about 30 minutes after they responded to a vehicle fire at the 99-mile marker in the westbound lanes, according to the Clark County Fire Department.

WAYNESBURG - Police have arrested a man after an overnight standoff in Lincoln County. Sometime before 11 p.m. Monday, Sandra Combs reported her husband assaulted her. Lincoln County Sheriff's Department responded to the home located on Parker Road. Lincoln County Deputy Ryan Kirkpatrick and Constable Delbert Mitchell escorted Sandra Combs out of the home. Deputies then told her husband, Timothy Combs, 53, to come out of the house. Trooper Paul Blanton, spokesman for the Kentucky State Police post in Richmond, said Timothy Combs began making threats to the deputies, and Kentucky State Police was called for assistance.

STANFORD - More than a dozen Kentucky state troopers responded to the Stanford Walmart Saturday morning, but there were no crimes in progress or any shady business going on. The troopers were on-hand to help 66 local children do some memorable Christmas shopping. Kentucky State Police spokesman Paul Blanton said 2012 was a very successful year for his organization's annual "Shop With a Trooper" event. In all, the local KSP post provided free Christmas gifts and clothes to 141 children at the Richmond and Stanford Walmarts.

Nicholasville police arrested two Wilmore men on charges of federal conspiracy to distribute controlled substances. The arrests stem from a two-year investigation that involved the Kentucky State Police and the Drug Enforcement Administration, according to a news release. Anthony James, 28, and Charles Powell, 60, were arrested Friday. According to an NPD news release, James and Powell were travelling to Tennessee and obtaining prescription pills, and bringing them back to central Kentucky to sell.

One injured in Gose Pike crash   Danville emergency personnel responded to a two-vehicle collision Friday morning at the intersection of Gose Pike and U.S. 150, according to a police report. John Miller, 63, of Harrodsburg, caused the accident when he disregarded a red light at 11:50 a.m. Friday, according to police. Miller's 2008 Dodge truck with trailer crashed into a 2007 Chevrolet Impala driven by Marjorie Newcomb, 55, of Stanford. Newcomb was transported to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
