Former George Rogers Clark standout Vinny Zollo has narrowed his list to two schools in a search for a new collegiate home. Zollo played his freshman season at Western Kentucky University last year, before opting to transfer following the season. Zollo visited several schools during the past month, but will choose between Furman University and Iona College and likely will make a decision by the end of the week. Furman went 15-16 last season and lost to Davidson in the quarterfinals of the Southern Conference Tournament, while Iona lost to Brigham Young University in the opening round of the NCAA¿Tournament at the Dayton Arena.

It's almost as if John Calipari can't stop himself from finding ways to disrupt Louisville coach Rick Pitino's life. The Kentucky basketball coach is again dominating the summer headlines even as UK football coach Joker Phillips gets set to start his pivotal second season. Of course, at this time last year the buzz for UK fans was the basketball team's exhibition trip to Canada and the pending eligibility of Enes Kanter, so Phillips and his players should be used to being overshadowed even as they prepare to start their season.

LEXINGTON — Count Kentucky coach John Calipari as a Louisville fan. Calipari smiled as he admitted Friday that he roots for the Cardinals to win every game — a sentiment he knows many UK fans cannot understand or accept. However, it’s all about the fact that the more Louisville wins, the more Calipari sees it helping Kentucky’s strength of schedule and eventual NCAA tournament seeding because the Wildcats beat the Cardinals 78-63 on Dec. 31 at the KFC Yum!

Kentucky coach John Calipari isn't interested in talking revenge. Avenging a 73-72 loss to Indiana would be an easy motivational tool for Calipari this week as the top-seeded Wildcats prepare for Friday night's East Region showdown against the Hoosiers at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Ga. It's a matchup Big Blue Nation has been yearning for since Christian Watford sank at 3-pointer at the buzzer on Dec. 10 in Bloomington, that bounced Kentucky from...

LEXINGTON - Lamar guard Anthony Miles thinks Kentucky is better than Louisville and Ohio State. Miles formed his own opinion of the three teams following the Cardinals' 86-64 loss to the third-ranked Wildcats Wednesday night at Rupp Arena. He favors the Wildcats over both Louisville and Ohio State, which is ranked second in the Associated Press poll. “Athletically, I didn't think Louisville was as athletic or Ohio State was,” he said. “At the same time, they're all good teams.

Kentucky coach John Calipari keeps waiting for a breakthrough. “Everybody is watching for the same thing, every fan and everybody else is just, are they going to compete at a really high level? Are they going to battle, are they going to talk more, are they going to play with more energy?” he said Friday. “If they do, we're all going to be really happy. Winning will take care of itself if we get to that point.” Calipari hopes that turning point begins today when the Wildcats return to the court against Marshall today in a 4 p.m. tipoff at Rupp¿Arena.

The tape from Kentucky's loss to Notre Dame didn't reveal any surprises. “We're a November basketball team,” the Kentucky coach said Friday. “That's all I can tell you. I watched the tape. We stopped playing, didn't compete, didn't come up with 50-50 balls, didn't play for one another. We kind of separated a little bit, but that's the first road game and, you know… I knew we'd struggle, but I thought we'd compete. That's the surprising thing. We just didn't battle them. It was obvious they wanted the game more than we wanted the game.” The Wildcats (4-2)

LOUISVILLE - Preston Knowles entered the KFC Yum! Center with his daughter in his arms and smiling from ear-to-ear for senior night ceremonies Wednesday. And, that smile didn't leave his face from the time he took the opening tip and drilled a shot from the wing for first two points of the game, until he took his final bow as a Cardinal with two minutes left in Louisville's 87-60 win over Providence. The George Rogers Clark graduate flirted with a triple-double in his last game in front of the home fans, finishing with 20 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.

Kentucky athletics director Mitch Barnhart couldn't help chuckling Sunday when asked what he thought this week would be like in Kentucky after UK advanced to a Final Four matchup with Louisville in New Orleans. “I think it will be pretty crazy. I am not sure we seen anything like this in the time I have been here, but you guys (in the media) will have fun,” said Barnhart. He's right, but so will Louisville fans. Remember, it has been a long season for the Cardinal faithful.
