The curtain is about to rise on the 32nd annual spring musical production at Lincoln County High School with "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" set to hit the planks this weekend. The LCHS chorus and drama departments, under the direction of Johnna Ward and Stuart and Sheila Underwood, will present the musical Friday and Saturday, March 28 and 29, at 7:30 p.m. in the Underwood Auditorium. Set in the winter of 1850, "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" is an unusually strong story centering on the seven Pontipee brothers, all of whom lead a rough, lonely existence on their farm in the mountains of Oregon and their successful ?

HARRODSBURG - A local man has been arrested after a 17-year-old male juvenile reportedly was kidnapped Nov. 2 on James Street, police said. Jermaine Alexander Jones, 36, of 517 Ashley Drive, was charged with kidnapping (minor) and lodged in the Boyle County Jail. Patrolman Lynn Davis reported that Jones also assaulted the victim twice - once when he kidnapped him on James Street, and again at the Jones home on Ashley Drive. The victim was returned to James Street.

A Lincoln County High School senior charged with kidnapping and sexual abuse in the first degree was in district court for a preliminary hearing Monday. District Judge Bill Oliver sent the case against 19-year-old Justin Davis of Stanford to a Lincoln County grand jury. The defendant's lawyer said the case is blown out of proportion and the alleged victim is exaggerating what actually happened at the high school on the day in question. Once again accompanied to court by his parents, Mr. Davis, sat emotionless beside his lawyer, Bill Erwin, during testimony from a sheriff's deputy and two schools officials, but not the alleged victim, although she was in court along with her family and supporters.

STANFORD - A litany of witnesses testified that Cecil Harris was armed that day in August, repeatedly demanded a withheld paycheck, and threatened to shoot them as they called 911. Harris, accused of kidnapping and aiming a revolver at employees of Lincoln County's Freeway Express trucking, went to trial Tuesday. The trial is expected to conclude today. Amid spontaneous accusations that the company hauled illegal drugs, Harris claimed it was he who was threatened with violence and the gun was actually a toy. Harris was indicted on multiple charges of kidnapping, first-degree wanton endangerment, third-degree assault of a police officer, and one count of first-degree robbery for allegedly taking a shotgun from the business.

A Junction City man and a juvenile were arrested Saturday afternoon after an apparent kidnapping plot was thwarted by Boyle sheriff's deputies and Junction City police. Anthony Rosel II, of Rosel Road, Junction City, was charged with criminal attempt to kidnap, unlawful providing a handgun to a minor, wanton endangerment, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and possession of burglary tools, all felony charges. The juvenile was charged with criminal attempt to kidnap, carrying a concealed deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a minor.

Danville police arrested a man Tuesday after witnesses said he stole a vehicle with a 5-year-old child in the backseat. Marvin Lee Goodman, 43, of 344 Holtzclaw Ave., was charged with kidnapping, theft by unlawful taking and possession of narcotics. Police say just before 10 p.m., a caller from Speedway on West Main Street told the dispatcher a toddler was missing. The mother, who is deaf, was attempting to get help from Speedway employees, but they were having a hard time understanding her. Officer Ricky Sellers and Capt.

HARRODSBURG - Two men suspected in the kidnapping and beating of Travis Settles, 26, of Beaumont Avenue, have been indicted for the crime. Joshua R. Bartley, 20, of 1495 Kennedy Bridge Road, and Phillip Woodard, 32, of 615 Camp Kennedy Road, were both indicted Thursday when the Mercer County Grand Jury met. Both are charged with kidnapping and first-degree assault. Settles reported to Harrodsburg police that on Jan. 23 he was taken from his home at gunpoint and taken to the Burgin area where he was beaten.

STANFORD - The parents of a newborn baby who was kidnapped from Fort Logan Hospital last year have filed a lawsuit against the hospital's parent company. Corey and Samantha Barrows, parents of Grayci Barrows, filed the lawsuit last month in Lincoln Circuit Court against Ephraim McDowell Health and EMHFL, which does business as Fort Logan Hospital. The suit claims the hospital was negligent, failed to identify safety problems, and did not follow safety procedures. In a telephone interview Wednesday, Samantha Barrows said she has been advised not to comment on the case and directed any questions to her attorney, Ryan Green, who has an office in Erlanger.
