For the last month, Georgia has seemed almost invincible. The Bulldogs' offense has scored 40 or more points in three straight games, the defense is making big plays and Georgia has climbed to No. 8 in the national rankings after looking like its season might fall apart after a 35-14 loss to Tennessee. Now Kentucky gets its chance to test Georgia - and maybe even prove that last year's 24-20 win over the Bulldogs that brought the goal posts down in Commonwealth Stadium was no fluke.

The Kentucky Wildcats came up just short of a shocker on Saturday, falling to the No. 13 ranked Georgia Bulldogs 42-38 in Commonwealth Stadium in Lexington. "Obviously this is a very, very tough loss. One of the toughest losses we've had since I've been here," Kentucky coach Rich Brooks said. A Georgia touchdown from quarterback Matthew Stafford, who finished the day with 376 passing yards and three touchdowns, to wide receiver A.J. Green with 1:54 remaining in the game proved to be the difference, as the 'Cats comeback attempt fell just short.

LEXINGTON - Micah Johnson remembers the feeling after Kentucky stunned Georgia two years ago. "I just remember the excitement and pandemonium from the fans," Johnson said earlier this week. The Cats' 24-20 triumph in 2006 was part of the team's late-season turnaround that produced back-to-back bowl appearances. In that same span, Johnson and his teammates have won 19 of their last 28 games, including six in nine attempts this year. Kentucky coach Rich Brooks said the win over the Bulldogs two years ago was one that helped transform the program into a consistent conference contender.

LEXINGTON - Kentucky has been able to use big plays to win games this year. But so has Georgia. "You don't want to rely on the big play, but you want to have that as part of what you do or defenses will crowd you. Sometimes it takes the deep ball to loosen things up," said Georgia coach Mark Richt. The Georgia coach says the improvement of quarterback Matthew Stafford has helped the offense become more productive. "We have made some big plays and thrown some deep balls.

LEXINGTON - Kentucky continues to be ranked in the top 25, has a 7-3 overall record and for the second straight year is drawing interest from numerous bowl scouts. Kentucky coach Rich Brooks is not about to speculate, though, about whether some UK fans might actually be disappointed that his No. 22 Wildcats are only 7-3 after Saturday's 27-20 win at Vanderbilt following a 5-0 start and top 10 ranking. "I am not going to worry about any of that stuff," said Brooks, who noted that the only time he had not been pleased with his team's effort this year was in a 31-14 loss to Mississippi State.

LEXINGTON - Kentucky's chances of ending a 14-game losing streak to Georgia in Sanford Stadium in Athens, Ga., got a boost on Thursday when UK coach Rich Brooks announced that senior Rafael Little will be available to play. Little missed three games with a hip injury and then injured his lower back on the next to last play of the first half in last week's win over Vanderbilt. Brooks had listed him as doubtful for Saturday's game at Georgia on Wednesday, but changed his outlook after Thursday's practice.

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - Georgia has done all it can. Now, the Bulldogs need a little help to reach the Southeastern Conference championship game. Knowshon Moreno ran for 124 yards, Matthew Stafford surprised Kentucky with a 10-yard touchdown run and No. 8 Georgia overcame four turnovers and an early deficit to beat 22nd-ranked Kentucky 24-13 Saturday. The Bulldogs (9-2, 6-2 SEC) clinched at least a tie for first in the Eastern Division and will face top-ranked LSU in the Dec. 1 title game in nearby Atlanta if Tennessee loses either of its last two games.

LEXINGTON - Kentucky coach Rich Brooks fondly remembers the previous two years when his Wildcats could use the effective running of Rafael Little to set up big play-action passes by quarterback Andre Woodson. Now he sees that same big-play capability from Georgia thanks to running back Knowshon Moreno and quarterback Matt Stafford. "They are a running team that throws well off the play-action. They pound you with power plays and then they fake those and your linebackers and safeties are up in there (at the line)

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) ? Matthew Stafford threw for 376 yards and the go-ahead touchdown to A.J. Green with 1:54 remaining to lift No. 14 Georgia to a 42-38 win over Kentucky on Saturday. Knowshon Moreno ran for 123 yards and three scores and wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi atoned for two fumbles by hauling in a career-high eight receptions for 191 yards and a touchdown as the Bulldogs (8-2, 5-2 Southeastern Conference) survived a major scare from the Wildcats (6-4, 2-4). Freshman quarterback Randall Cobb ran for 82 yards and three scores for the Kentucky, but threw an interception to Georgia's DeMarcus Dobbs at the Georgia 13 with 46 seconds remaining and the Bulldogs escaped.
