Cheap energy has high costs Dear Editor: Why do huge, powerful and influential energy companies feel entitled to do business as cheap as possible, take huge profits out of state and leave mass destruction behind as our legacy for our children? Why do they need “protection” from the big, bad Environmental Protection Agency? Could it be that they are not interested in clean air and clean water? That air and water are too expensive to protect? They are not in the business of worrying about the legacy of the destruction that they leave behind.

Dear Editor, It is truly rare that voters have such a clear choice in the First Magisterial District of Boyle County. As a resident of the First District, and someone who has had the privilege of serving this county in elected public office for more than 20 years, I can tell you Mickey Harmon is the absolute best choice to continue to serve this district as magistrate. Mickey is a life-long resident of the district, and, of course, has a long, distinguished record of serving this community in public office.

In response to the letter by Mrs. Porter, this is the most asinine judgmental opinion I have ever seen in print. If she had read the article on page 7 of the same paper she would see what is coming: rising unemployment, no more jobs and less pay. Did it ever occur to her the lady she so astutely criticized was hoping there would be more jobs? Why did she think she knew her story?   Self respect and pride are important to some people and they want to personally provide for their families.
