Reed right for Clark County Dear editor, At the outset, I need to confess my impartiality - I believe JoEllen Reed is as fine a public servant as I've ever known. With that said, I wholeheartedly endorse JoEllen Reed for state representative. Her whole life has been about serving the community. From educating kids as a grade school teacher to fighting for good government on the Winchester Board of Commissioners and Clark County Fiscal Court to leading the effort to build the community and technical college that Clark County deserves, JoEllen Reed has always been there when Clark County needed leadership.

Term not meant to be negative In the Oct. 11 edition of The Jessamine Journal, Jonathan Kleppinger reported on the board of education's discussion of the West Jessamine Baseball Team's proposed trip to Vero Beach over spring break. The article quoted the term “funny math.”  Unfortunately, some believed this term reflected poorly on the leadership of the team's booster club. Nothing could be further from the truth.  The discussion never involved questions regarding the character or integrity of any individual or organization.

Jessamine County Judge-Executive Neal Cassity was the deciding vote in favor of releasing a line of credit held by the county to the developers of The Lakes at Equestrian Estates during the fiscal-court meeting Tuesday night. Cassity's deciding vote also made for a payment of nearly $22,000 to the Jessamine County/City of Wilmore Joint Planning Commission for fees the commission incurred through the project. The magistrates were split three-to-three, with Terry Meckstroth, Tim Vaughn and Burch Hager voting yes, and George Dean, Gary Morgan and Bobby Day Wilson voting no. Meckstroth had been assigned to visit the subdivision known as The Lakes at Equestrian Estates, which is the luxury-homes area north of the county on Brannon Road and report back to the fiscal court.
