Cindy McKnight and Edwin and Pat Lockhart announce the engagement of their daughter, Eve Ellen Lockhart of Somerset, to Joshua Aaron Adams, son of James and Jacque Adams. The wedding will take place May 16 at 3 p.m. at the Clark County Fish and Game Club. In case of inclement weather, the wedding will be moved to Forest Grove Christian Church. A reception will follow the ceremony, and guests are asked to RSVP. The bride-elect is graduate of Pulaski County High School and a 2006 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University.

Mary Elaine Dotterweich, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Dotterweich, of Wilmore and Lee Jameson Brooks, son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Brooks, of Nicholasville were married May 10, 2008 at Wilmore Free Methodist Church with the Rev. Andy Lawrence officiating. Matron of honor was the bride's sister, Sarah Quezada. Bridesmaids were Mary Johns and Lydia Lallatin. Best man was Logan Baker. Groomsmen were Josh Corman and Ben Taylor. Ushers were Tim Foreman and Daniel Van Horn. Following the ceremony, a cake reception was held in the Christian Ministry Center.

Dear Editor: On Tuesday, Mercer County will elect a judge-executive. I would like to encourage you to consider voting for John Trisler. John retired from Lexmark after holding executive positions in finance and management, demonstrating his qualifications and experience to manage in responsible positions. John, an active farmer, is very community- and church-minded. He has served on the Anderson Dean Park, Industrial Authority, Haggin Hospital, and Foundation boards. He and his wife, Kay, have taught the Christian Friends Sunday School Class in our church for many years.

Floor Coverings International is now open at 1060 Elizabeth St. in Nicholasville. The franchise was established in 1988, and it allows for mobile showrooms to bring more than 3,000 samples to customers' homes. The samples are viewed in homes to make it easier to match colors with furniture, wall coloring and accessories. Products include carpet, hardwood, laminates, luxury vinyl, ceramic tile, area rugs and window coverings. Owner Jonathan Wilk said his experience as purchasing manager at Lexmark took him to all corners of the globe and has provided him with the business know-how for his new venture.

Satessa Shaco Embry and Phillip David Grimes Jr. exchanged marriage vows at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Andre Barnes officiating at the double ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Kim Smith of Winchester and George Embry of Riverdale, Ga. Grimes is the son of Phillip and Victoria Grimes Sr. of Louisville. Music was provided by Kenny Clay and Chava Clay, vocalists. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a satin A-line princess gown accented with embroidered flowers and sequins.

Winchester resident William J. "Billy" Swope II has announced his candidacy to represent District 2 on the Clark County Board of Education. This is the first time Swope, 36, of 6188 Lexington Road, has run for office. Swope said in a release this morning that he hopes to offer the school board a new perspective. "I decided to run for the board of education after sitting back for over a year now watching the academic and economical decisions that were being made that did not have the interest of all Clark County children in mind," he said.

Tired of high gas prices and spending every morning alone with the radio on the 30-minute ride to Lexington? You might want to come to the Clark County Courthouse Thursday night. County Judge-Executive Henry Branham will hold a public meeting to discuss creation of a local "park and ride" network that would help commuters carpool to other communities and save on gasoline. Branham said he hopes to gauge public interest, talk about potential parking locations and develop a list of residents interested in participating.
