"We are still not hitting as well as I would like at this point in the season, but we played well enough defensively and got great pitching, and most of the time, that's enough to get a win,” Lincoln coach Kevin Bandura said. “(Mercer pitcher Megan)

STANFORD - Another Friday night and another stellar performance by Madison Southern running back Damien Harris and his Eagle teammates. The sophomore speedster, who already has scholarship offers from a handful of major colleges, carried the ball only 12 times Friday night, but he made the most of it, rushing for 229 yards and five touchdowns, including a 75-yard jaunt, as the Eagles soared over Lincoln County 47-19 at Death Valley. Madison Southern quarterback Adam Simpson was no slouch, either, rolling up 181 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries as the Eagles out-offensed the Patriots 507 yards to 199. “Any time you've got Damien Harris in the backfield you've got a shot to score on every play, and he proved that tonight,” Lincoln coach Mike Settles said.

STANFORD - Authorities say a Stanford man was fortunate to escape injury when his truck went off a bridge and into a creek Monday afternoon. A Kentucky State Police news release said Ashley Sparks, 33, was crossing a bridge southbound on Old U.S. 127 five miles north of Hustonville about 1:30 p.m. when the passenger side tires of the pickup truck left the road. Police said Sparks overcorrected, causing the vehicle to leave the road and hit a guardrail and bridge wall. Trooper Paul Blanton said the 1989 Chevy S-10 pickup knocked out the guardrail and overturned before landing upside down in a creek bed. Blanton said Sparks was able to free himself and make it to the bank of the creek with only minor injuries but left the scene before crews arrived.
