Barbara Ann Yates Greer, 64, of Richmond, died Wednesday, April 24, at her residence. Born Oct. 27, 1948, in Lincoln County, Barbara was a daughter of the late Charles and Molly Gertrude Kennedy Yates. She was a former employee of American Greetings in Danville. Survivors include her husband, Jackie L. Greer; daughters, Gena Lee Greer and Dena Sue Greer Masters; brother, Charles Lee (Shelia) Yates; sisters, Sally Dean (Gordon) King and Betty Sue (James) Stogsdill; and three grandchildren.

The Lincoln County team of Hunter Biggs and Dallas New fared well in the inaugural KHSAA Bass Fishing Tournament championships, finishing 11th out of 42 teams at Kentucky Lake. Biggs and New, who qualified for state in the Region 3 Tournament at Lake Cumberland, caught 10 fish totaling 27 pounds, 2 ounces in the two-day tournament held this past weekend in Murray. LCHS bass fishing coach Street Spoonamore said that the Lincoln team was in 13th place after the first day, with 12 pounds, 8 ounces, 4 pounds behind the leaders.

LANCASTER - Garrard County got a win it badly needed Tuesday. And the Golden Lions are hoping that is just the start of a big week for them. MCKINNEY - An ongoing investigation into a Lincoln County family with a history of sexual crimes against children has resulted in another indictment. James Matthew Robinson, 40, of 7850 Ky. 698 in the McKinney community, is accused by state police of using seven children - all related to him - in sexual performances and sexually abusing most of those same children.

The Lincoln County boys and girls tennis teams closed out the regular season Thursday, but neither had a good run, with both the Patriots and Lady Patriots bowing to Southwestern. The Patriots had a close call in their final regular-season match, with the host Warriors edging out a 5-4 win. The Lady Warriors didn't give up much ground to the Lady Patriots, walking away with an 8-1 win. Ethan Smith, Lincoln's top seed, scored an 8-5 win over Southwestern's Anand Prabhu to get the Patriot's started.

STANFORD - The following people were indicted last week by a Lincoln County grand jury: Tara Lake, 28, of Danville, first-degree assault for allegedly hitting Melissa Pike with a baseball bat on Feb. 22. Bond was set at $25,000. Deputy Chase Marcum testified before the grand jury. Joseph B. Brewster, 36, of 117 Harris Creek No. 3, Stanford, third-degree assault and terroristic threatening for allegedly being armed with a deadly weapon while trying to injure Kentucky State Trooper Josh Chenault and threatening harm to Cynthia Reardon on May 18, 2012.

It's a television scene familiar to most of us over 20 years old: Wile E. Coyote buys himself an ACME catapult and assembles it, aiming a huge, red rock to land on a black "X" where he anticipates the elusive Roadrunner will pass by. As Coyote lies in wait, licking his chops, Roadrunner blazes down the road toward the "X. " Right on cue, Coyote pulls his trigger rope, but nothing happens. After a few more unproductive yanks on the rope, Coyote begins to examine his contraption.

STANFORD - The Danville baseball team completed its sweep of 45th District rival Lincoln County with a 5-2 win Tuesday afternoon. The game was deadlocked at 1-1 after three innings, but the Admirals broke the tie in the top of the fourth, using a three run effort to go on top to stay. Will Graham, Jack Graham and John Roney strung together three straight hits for the Admirals to lead off the inning and all resulted in runs to set Danville (18-11, 3-3 district) up for the win. “It was a good win - all district wins are good wins,” Danville coach Paul Morse said.

STANFORD - Lincoln County and Garrard County squared off on the softball diamond Monday with the No. 2 seed in the 45th District on the line. When the final out was registered, it was the Garrard Lady Lions securing the No. 2 spot, shutting out the host Lady Patriots 5-0. The Lady Lions (15-11, 3-1 district) scored one run in the top of the third inning to give starting pitcher Kenlea Norton all the help she would need. Norton got the complete-game win, limiting Lincoln to just four hits and not allowing a single runner past third base.
