George Rogers Clark senior golfer Chelsea Griffith signed a national letter-of-intent with Lindsey Wilson College Monday afternoon in the school library. “I've always loved soccer,” said Estridge. “I've been playing soccer since I was four, and it's always been a dream of mine to play college soccer.” When Brescia University came calling, the Lincoln County High School senior knew she had found the pathway to her dream. After meeting with women's soccer coach Dave Donahue, Estridge was sold on becoming a Lady Bearcat. “For as long as I can remember, I knew I wanted to play college soccer, and it was between Hanover, Lindsey Wilson and Brescia,” Estridge said.

Former Boyle County golfer Kelsey Joslyn was named the Mid-South Conference Player of the Year, as well as academic All-Conference at Lindsey Wilson. The sophomore tied with teammate Kaitlin Allan for medalist honors with a 165 at the MSC Championships, and lost in a playoff to help the school to its seventh straight conference title last week at Bardstown Country Club at Maywood.

SOMERSET — Nicole Coffman, Casey County’s leading scorer and rebounder this season, could only watch the final rounds of the girls 12th Region Tournament after suffering a season-ending knee injury. Coffman, a senior guard, suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee Monday in Casey’s first-round victory over Lincoln County, and she said Friday she expects to undergo surgery in the coming days. She is scheduled to meet with Lexington orthopedic surgeon Dr. Mary Lloyd Ireland on Tuesday.

Ryan Wilson was a defensive stalwart for a Boyle County team which won its last 30 games, including two straight state titles. Now, the Rebels senior will take his defensive abilities to Lindsey Wilson. The Blue Raiders went 5-6 in their first season of varsity football, including a 4-2 mark in the Mid-South Conference. Wilson, a 6-foot, 230 pounder, said he liked that everyone seemed to be behind the new program. ‘I think they really have a lot of support for the program.

Boyle County’s Kelsey Joslyn shot a 72-78—150 to take medalist honors for Lindsey Wilson at the Bill Sergent Invitational on the Crooked Creek Golf Course in London over the weekend. The Lindsey Wilson freshman beat her teammate, Jennifer MacKinnon, to win her first collegiate title and help the Blue Raiders win the team title by 28 strokes with a 624 total, compared to 652 for Campbellsville.

STANFORD — It’s really not a surprise that Lincoln County’s Ande Stamper is going to continue her athletics career at Eastern Kentucky University. She started playing AAU basketball in the fourth grade with future Lincoln teammates Jessica Upchurch, Kendra Brown, Nikki Bustle and others. She played softball from her seventh grade year through her senior year at Lincoln. She even played volleyball and started her junior season. However, it’s cheerleading that has given Stamper a chance to continue her athletics career.

Brandon Mitchell only played one year of varsity tennis at Lincoln County High School, but he netted more than his share of victories on courts. He also netted a college offer. Mitchell, who only attended LCHS his senior year, will be getting a little extra help in funding his college education after accepting a partial athletic scholarship to play for the Union College Bulldogs. “I’m excited,” said Mitchell, who had his father, Rodney Mitchell, and grandparents, Denver and Sue Mitchell, at his side as he inked his letter of commitment with the Barbourville school.

Swimming and diving teams from Asbury College, Berea College, Campbellsville University (women), Lindsey Wilson (men), Union College, and University of the South (Sewanee) made waves in the annual Asbury College Swimming and Diving Invitational. NAIA National qualifying times were achieved and pool records were broken during the two-day meet. Asbury's men and women each finished first out of the five-team meet. Junior Matt Hood led the Asbury men with three wins in the 500-meter freestyle, 200-meter freestyle, and a tie for first with David Johnson (Union College)
