Louisville band Anton Mink will raise the roof Saturday at Club Carbon in downtown Danville. Vocalist Chloa says bass player Anton Z. and she first met in 2004 through a music ad. They recorded their first album, “Anton Mink,” in 2007, then added guitarist/organist Andy Jack to the group. Drummer Clinton was added in 2011. “Our bass player, Anton Z., formed the band and wrote most of the first songs and specifically wanted a female singer,” Chloa says. “He thought that the name Anton Mink sounded like a good punk character, but coupled with female vocals would be mysterious, as well.” Chloa says the band's sound is difficult to describe.

LEXINGTON - Colorado State came into its NCAA tournament game Thursday ranked fourth in the country in rebounding. The Rams displayed their dominance on the glass in their 84-72 win over Missouri in a second-round game at Rupp Arena, outrebounding the Tigers 42-19. And senior Colton Iverson said it is going to take a similar effort on the glass and on defense Saturday when they face top-seeded Louisville to help negate the Cardinals' pressure. “Obviously, they're a great team, talented, big, physical.

LEXINGTON — Rockcastle County coach Scott Parkey was still an assistant coach when the Rockets’ star player, lineman Brad Durham, committed to play at Louisville. Durham was not a Kentucky native — his family moved to Rockcastle County from Indiana — but he seriously considered Kentucky before making his decision to play for then-coach Bobby Petrino’s Cardinals. “Brad and his whole family were wearing red everywhere. They loved it, loved the town, loved the staff, everything,” said Parkey.

On the same day Preston Knowles decided to call the University of Louisville his college home, he was back on the hardwood at College Park's gym. He was relaxed but breaking a sweat as he played with recreational players in his spare time. Clark coach Scott Humphrey wasn't surprised to hear that Knowles was inside the gym this time of year. "There's no finish line with him," he said. "He continues to work on his game. He plays with passion, and that's why he's in the position that he's in. He wants to play, he wants to compete, and he'll push himself every day to get better.

John Calipari has beaten the University of Louisville at Rupp Arena. Twice to be exact. The University of Kentucky men's basketball coach also has been successful at the KFC Yum! Center in his only appearance two years ago, and even defeated the Cardinals on a neutral court at the Final Four last year in New Orleans. Since he's been coach of the Wildcats, Calipari has never lost to the Cardinals, although three of those four games were close, with the Wildcats winning by single digits, including a 69-61 triumph over Louisville during the school's successful national championship run last season.

Believe it or not, Kentucky doesn't mind playing at Papa John's Stadium, or in Louisville for that matter. The Wildcats have won the past two games on enemy territory and hold an overall 6-3 advantage over their rivals in games played in Louisville. Kentucky coach Joker Phillips notched his first victory as a college coach two years ago when his squad topped the Cardinals 23-16. It also marked Charlie Strong's debut with the Cardinals. The two instate rivals kickoff the season Sunday, in what figures to be a drenching with the remnants of Hurricane Isaac expected to hover over the Bluegrass this weekend.

LOUISVILLE - Kentucky coach Joker Phillips offered a mixed bag of emotions following Kentucky's season-opening 32-14 loss to Louisville here Sunday. On the one hand, Kentucky generated 373 yards against the 25th-ranked Cardinals. On the other, the Wildcats committed a pair of turnovers and missed out on two scoring chances inside the red zone. Phillips also counted two drives inside the 25-yard line as missed opportunities. “When you get the ball inside the 25, that's the red zone,” Phillips said.
