Guthrie's staff to visit Danville Congressman Brett Guthrie's staff will gather at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Danville City Hall. Guthrie's staff, along with Mayor Bernie Hunstad, will be available to answer questions from residents. The congressman's staff can also help with some types of paperwork. Diabetes information meeting offered A Diabetes and Information Group meeting will be held 6 p.m. April 9 at the Boyle County Health Department. Dr. Ginny Gottschalk will speak about sexual health issues in Diabetes.

The chairwoman of the Danville Citizens Committee denied illegally casting votes in executive sessions through Assistant City Attorney Stephen Dexter in response to a complaint filed by The Advocate-Messenger. The entire nine-member panel met March 8 to review 12 candidates for the vacant city manager position and selected four as their top choices. An Advocate-Messenger reporter was waiting during the entire meeting and was invited back into the room. Committee members explained they voted unanimously on the four candidates, a fact which City Commissioner Gail Louis later disputed to two Advocate-Messenger reporters as well as publicly during recent City Commission meetings.

Improve patron courtesy Dear Editor, I can't speak for other people in the community, but I find it annoying when I patronize a local business and the owner or employees are talking on the phone and don't stop. Unless the phone call is an emergency, I believe they should at least put the phone down or let the people they are talking to know they will call them back. After all, I'm spending my money and paying their salary, and that would be a small price to pay while waiting on me. Glenn A. Correction The Music at the Manor benefit concert for STRIDE on Sept. 18 will not include a silent auction, as reported Thursday. The auction is a live auction to decide who will get to be guest conductor for a song. Fall volleyball league offered Winchester-Clark County Parks and Recreation will sponsor a co-ed fall volleyball league. Teams can register now through Oct. 18. Cost is $250 per team, and all fees are due at the time of registration. Games will be Monday nights at College Park Gym beginning Monday, Oct. 25. There will be a coaches’ meeting Oct. 21 at 6 p.m. in the Health and Wellness Center, meeting room A. Rest area reopens The rest area on the eastbound side of Interstate 64 in Clark County has been reopened by the state Department of Highways.
