HARRODSBURG — During Tuesday’s regular Fiscal Court meeting, magistrates approved a change in health insurance policies for county employees which will change deductibles from $250 to $2,000. The presentation was given by Bob Davis with Whitenack and Souder Insurance out of Harrodsburg, who the county already is insured with. Magistrates questioned Davis about the pros of adopting the new program. Davis said the change would save the county an average of $109,000 a year, and that he already had taken the new policy to several department heads of the county who seemed to have no hesitation with switching to it. He said eight out of nine counties he serves, including Lincoln and Garrard counties, use the same program.

But now they are developing one of the deepest rosters they have ever had, and they think that will help them have one of their best seasons ever and perhaps even contend for a championship in their section of the state meet. Mercer has more than 30 boys in the program, a number of whom came on board for the first time this year to join a talented group of returning athletes.

West Jessamine softball's turnaround continued Thursday with a 3-1 win over district opponent Mercer County. The Lady Colts have emphasized those lyrics as they are riding the momentum of seven wins in their last 11 games heading into the district tournament. “It's exciting for them,” coach Baker said.
