HARRODSBURG - The Danville boys were in need of any sort of win, but this one helped them in more ways than one. Danville held off Mercer County down the stretch Saturday night for a 64-56 victory in the Farmers National Bank 12th Region Madness at Mercer. The Admirals halted a five-game losing streak by holding their ground in the fourth quarter after Mercer scored 10 straight points to wipe out most of their double-digit lead. Danville coach Andrew Zaheri said the fact that they withstood the Titans' best punch was a good sign for a team that he said has frequently been floored by such blows in his first two seasons.

A Mercer team that has been young for years remains young and still isn't on the list of contenders for a regional title, but the Titans' coach said they're doing all the right things to put themselves in position to contend down the road. “We're getting prepared for when we get stronger,” Anderson said. That preparation continued Saturday at the Danville Invitational, where the Titans were far removed from the top of the leaderboard but were gaining valuable tournament experience.

If the first face newcomers see at the door when moving to Boyle or Mercer County happens to be that of Beth Perros, the tone set for living in these communities will be nothing but positive. Perros has been a representative for the past year for Community Greeting Service, a company from Bowling Green in operation since 1946 that connects newcomers to a community with welcome packages promoting local business.
