One of Mercer County's most valuable players has learned the value of teamwork. John Ingram said it is one of the most important things he has learned during his time with the Titans and one of the most important factors in their back-to-back regional championship seasons and their drive toward a third straight title. And he said it is one of the most important reasons why he has been successful at Mercer, where he has been a starter for three-plus years. LANCASTER - Mercer County might be starting to get its swagger back. Two straight trips to the state tournaments would be enough to give any team some confidence, and one Mercer player said that confidence has helped the Titans' offense get untracked as they approach a critical part of their schedule. Eight of the nine Mercer starters contributed to a 13-hit attack Friday in an 11-3 victory over Garrard County that gave the Titans their seventh win in eight games. The Titans are averaging 6.13 runs per game during their two-week run, which followed a 5-4 stretch that knocked them out of the top 25, and this was its highest run total in those eight games.

It was just a matter of quantity over quality for the Boyle County boys. The Rebels only won three events Friday, but took second in five events and had at least two scorers in eight 13 possible events to finish with 156 points, outlasting Mercer County (105) and Anderson County (102.5). But it may have been a costly night for the Rebels, as relay runner Tristen Morrow pulled up with a hip injury at finish line of the 400-meter relay. “He ran a fantastic 4-by-2 split, he cooled down, got a little tight, had to re-warm up and never got warm again.
