HARRODSBURG - A man and the couple he was living with have been indicted by a Mercer County grand jury on additional charges alleging the rape of minor girls staying in the homes they all shared. Jordan S. Floyd, 22, was indicted last week for first-degree rape for allegedly using forcible compulsion to engage in sexual intercourse with a female in Mercer County between January and March of 2012. Also indicted by the grand jury were Charles E. Hendrickson, 37, and June L. Hendrickson, 33, both of 452 Locust St., Lancaster, who were each charged with two counts of complicity to first-degree rape involving a child less than 12. Floyd and the Hendicksons were indicted last year on addtional rape and sodomy charges in Mercer County, and Floyd also was indicted on two counts of first-degree rape in Garrard County last week.

STANFORD - The Mercer County baseball team lost to Lincoln County early in the season, but the Titans put the sting of that loss behind them Thursday - and in convincing fashion. The Mercer pitching staff allowed just three hits and the offense pounded out 14 hits as the Titans defeated the Patriots 7-3. “Timely hits and good pitching, that's what baseball is about and we had it tonight,” Mercer coach Jeremy Shope said. “I love the way our pitchers pitch. I love the way our defense is playing defense.

The Mercer County boys swept doubles play to pull out a 6-3 win at Danville on Thursday. Jacob Crowell, Andrew Yeager and Nathan Sheehan won at singles and doubles for the Titans. Michael McChesney, Johnathan Durall and and Jake Rankin had singles win for the Admirals. Casey County 7, Boyle County 2 - At Danville, Casey swept singles play in a win over host Boyle. Skyler Wright, Taylor Leigh posted singles and doubles wins fof Casey. Girls Mercer County 9, Danville 0 - At Harrodsburg, Christy Ingram, Kennedy Thompson and Kyliegh Murray each posted wins at singles and doubles for the Titans in a sweep of Danville.

Lincoln County scored four times in the bottom of the fifth inning Thursday and went on to beat visiting Mercer County 5-2. Lincoln (8-11) only had four hits, one a double from Alyssa Meece, but took advantage of four Mercer errors. HARRODSBURG - A Danville man was arrested late Friday night after he allegedly drove into a mobile home while allegedly intoxicated. Just before midnight, Danville police had attempted to stop Kevin Freedman, 33, in Danville, but he fled. Boyle County Sheriff Marty Elliott said his department joined in the pursuit, which continued into Mercer County Danville police left the chase, and Mercer County Sheriff's Office joined, Elliott said. “We continued due to alcohol involvement,” he said.

The Mercer County boys won five singles matches Thursday to set the stage for a 7-2 win over Pulaski County at Harrodburg. Jacob Crowell and Andrew Yeager won in straight sets for Mercer at Nos. 1 and 2 singles, and they teamed for a super tiebreaker win at No. 1 doubles. Casey County 8, Somerset 1 - At Liberty, Skyler Wright and Taylor Leigh pulled out a 9-7 win at No. 1 doubles for Casey after the Rebels swept six singles matches. Girls Mercer County 8, Pulaski County 1 - At Harrodsburg, Mercer swept singles play and won the top two doubles matches in its win over Pulaski.

HARRODSBURG - Mercer County got its bats going quickly Thursday and won its second straight game with a 15-0 victory over visiting Burgin in a 46th District game. Megan Hilbert drilled a game-ending home run in the bottom of the fourth inning, was a single short of the cycle and also picked up the win for host Mercer (7-8, 2-1 district). Makenzie Isaacs went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and a run, Makayla Carter had two hits, two RBIs and scored two runs and Ashley Harley was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and scored twice for the Titans.

J.T. Long scattered seven hits Tuesday, striking out three and walking none in a complete game win as Mercer County beat No. 10 West Jessamine 4-1 in Harrodsburg. Jon Banks went 3-for-3 and scored a run and Dylan Logue was 2-for-3 with a run and RBI for the Titans (11-4, 1-1 46th District). It was a 1-1 game going to the bottom of the sixth before Mercer pulled away. Trevor Tate led off the inning with a single to left and Clay Bryant ran for him, Banks had a bunt single, then Bryant scored on a groundout by Curry Brown and error by the Colts to make it 2-1. Logue's bunt single scored Banks, the Logue later scored when John Ingram reached on an error to make it a 4-1 games.

Christy Ingram and Kyleigh Murray of Mercer County won a battle Monday between two teams vying for the top girls doubles seed in the upcoming regional tournament, defeating Anna Duncan and Nikol Pluess of Boyle County 6-3, 6-3 as part of Mercer's 8-1 win at Danville. It was the second win this season for Ingram and Murray over the Boyle duo; they won a super tiebreaker to take the first meeting. Erin Pigman of Mercer defeated Boyle's Victoria Horseman 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 1 singles match.
