Editor’s note: Taken from the Danville 911 records, the Police Blotter represents a history of the initial calls and the information used by the dispatcher to send officers to investigate complaints. LANCASTER — Garrard County didn’t have a bad game; it had a bad inning. But because the Lady Lions couldn’t match in seven innings what Somerset got done in one, they will sit out the state tournament for the first time in three years. Somerset sprung a surprising upset Tuesday night in a 12th Region Tournament semifinal, doing all of its damage in the second inning and keeping Garrard’s offense largely in check to win 4-2 at Millennium Park. It was an unlikely ending for Garrard, which has been the winningest team in the region over the last three seasons at 93-33.

Dear Editor, Kudos to Dee Coffey and the volunteers at the McDowell Wellness Center Triathlon this past Saturday and the participants getting it done in the rain. Many of the 100 or so participants were from the local area and some of the volunteers were area marathoners in training. We're becoming ultra-healthy around here. The participation at area 5Ks this year has also been up as well as the number of events. Well done, but don't take a rest yet. Two new 5K races on a new course at Millennium Park will be held the next two Saturdays back to back.

Dear Editor, I wish to thank the Danville City Commission, Boyle County magistrates, Danville-Boyle County Parks & Recreation Board, and John Drake and his staff for continuing to grow and maintain Millennium Park. The re-paving of the trails is a nice accent to the growth of the park since the year 2000. It is a beautiful park with the centerpiece of a pond with fountain. There are many active playing fields and courts, playgrounds, dog runs, etc. The flowers, trees, a beautiful entrance way are all well-maintained by the grounds staff.
