Country music singer Eddie Montgomery autographed copies of Montgomery Gentry's new CD, "Back When I Knew It All," for Boyle County's Matthew Bottom to share with his National Guard unit in Iraq. Bottom's parents, Lisa and Pete, are friends with Tracy and Eddie Montgomery, and the country music star quickly agreed to their request for the troops. "I called Tracy and asked about getting 140 CDs and to see if Eddie would sign them and, of course, she said he would. Eddie is always ready and willing to help with anything that has to do with the troops," Pete Bottom said.

Considering the success Montgomery Gentry has had, it's rare for singer Eddie Montgomery to make bold proclamations about future success. However, the Perryville entertainer can't hide his enthusiasm about Montgomery Gentry's upcoming seventh album based on the popularity of its newest single, "Back When I Knew It All," the title track from its newest album. "The new single was not even supposed to have been out so early, but it was hitting the Top 30 in the charts before it was even officially out," said Montgomery.

Dear Editor, I have spent the last seven years of my life serving abroad in the military. It is always special when people take time out of their lives to come see us. Recently, I had the opportunity to watch Montgomery Gentry perform. The show was outstanding to say the least, but what made it really great was where the show took place. It did not take place in any arena or stadium, it simply took place in a field on a military base here in Hawaii. Oh, I forgot to mention the show was completely free.

If Eddie Montgomery had his way, Montgomery Gentry would be performing at Commonwealth Stadium on April 18. Montgomery is a die-hard University of Kentucky sports fan. He was in Commonwealth Stadium on Nov. 24 when his Wildcats lost that heartbreaking four-overtime game to Tennessee, the team Montgomery would rather see UK beat than any other team on the schedule. Montgomery Gentry's "My Town" plays when UK women's coach Matthew Mitchell takes the floor for each home game, and Montgomery did promotional videos for the women's team.
