WILMORE - Ichthus Christian Music Festival uses a packed lineup, mission work and innovative, on-site festival features to encourage fans to "Listen.Live. " in '08. "Listen. Live. " These words, seemingly so simple, yet often so difficult to achieve, are the theme of "Ichthus:08," the annual Christian music festival held at Ichthus Farm in Wilmore. And to make sure it gives participants every opportunity to follow the "Listen. Live. " message, this year's festival is packed with more places and ways to listen and live while at Ichthus than ever before.

WILMORE - In the Bible and the church, the number 40 is significant. Jesus fasted in the wilderness for 40 days. Lent lasts 40 days. The Great Flood was 40 days and 40 nights. And the Israelites wandered for 40 years before they came to the land of Canaan. So it was fitting that the world's first Christian music festival made a big deal out of turning 40. Ichthus, which was started in 1969 by some Asbury Seminary students as a response to the Woodstock festival in upstate New York that same year, celebrated its 40th anniversary over the weekend as "The Summer of Peace, Love and Loud Music.

RICHMOND -Internationally acclaimed guitarist Marcin Dylla will present a concert Feb. 1 at Eastern Kentucky University. Dylla, the 2007 champion of the Guitar Foundation of America International Competition, will perform at 3 p.m. in O'Donnell Hall of the Student Services Building. CAMPBELLSVILLE - Buzz Cason, a newly-appointed Campbellsville University trustee who is a well-known Nashville author, songwriter, publisher and creative writer's group director, will autograph his book, "Living the Rock 'n Roll Dream: The Adventures of Buzz Cason," from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Campbellsville University Barnes & Noble Campus Bookstore. The bookstore is located in the Davenport Student Commons at 410 N. Hoskins Ave. in the East Bruce Heilman Student Complex.

The 7th annual Welcome Home Bluegrass Music Festival experienced minor weather difficulties Saturday but the bands played on. The music, however, was delayed from its original 6 p.m. start with rain and thunderstorms moving through the area, forcing musicians and festival-goers to seek shelter from the weather. Many Bluegrass music fans held their seats under the cover of umbrellas and rain gear and, after a delay of close to an hour, the first chords were strummed at the Historic L & N Depot.

In just two weeks, Wilmore could become the most populous city in Jessamine County, even though it will only last a few days. A projected 15,000 to 20,000 people, more than 100 musicians and 20 speakers will descend on Wilmore June 15-18 for the 37th annual Ichthus Music Festival. A free, pre-festival concert, "Mini-Ichthus," is open to the public at 6:45 p.m., Thursday, June 8 on the Ichthus Farm, in Wilmore Appearing in concert are Christian music groups Seventh-Day Slumber and Nate Fancher. Concert hosts are Asbury College, Asbury Seminary and Ichthus. Chick-Fil-A will be open for food sales and performer merchandise will be available. Seventh-Day Slumber performs chart favorites, "Oceans from the Rain" and "Caroline. " Nate Fancher is well known for his worship music that includes, "Awakening Days.

The Kentucky Tourism Council has selected the Great American Brass Band Festival and the "Raintree County" 50th Anniversary Festival as two of the state's summer "Top 10" events. The Great American Brass Band Festival, set for June 8-10 in Danville, has been called the country's most unique music festival. It begins with a New Orleans-style parade down Main Street and continues with ragtime favorites, marches and the swingin' beat of Bourbon Street. Circle City Sidewalk Stompers The Circle City Sidewalk Stompers Clown Band, of Indianapolis, Ind., has been a crowd favorite at the Great American Brass Band Festival every year since 1998. This colorfully costumed 12-piece brass band performs a high-energy choreographed show that brings horns face-to-face with the large crowd that gathers around them whenever they start to play. The band will get you laughing and your toes tapping to your favorite jazz, rock, Dixieland, big-band swing, and country tunes.
