Chapter 1828 of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association met at noon Tuesday, Feb. 24 at Taste of China. Jennifer Howard, Clark County Extension Agent for family and consumer sciences, was the guest speaker. She presented a program on poisons in the home. Chapter 1828 of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association met at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22 at the Taste of China. Robert D. Campbell, a retired Clark County educator, was the guest speaker for the meeting. He spoke about the Orphan Brigade, a brigade made up of soldiers from Kentucky who fought for the Confederacy. Campbell said the brigade did not fight in Kentucky, but it did fight in many of the other southeastern states. Chapter 1828 received an award for having the most volunteer hours among Kentucky chapters. Members of The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association, Chapter 1828, learned the history of Fort Boonesborough State Park at their February meeting. Members met Feb. 26 at Taste of China to hear George Chalfant, president of the Fort Boonesborough Foundation, Phil Gray, manager of Fort Boonesborough State Park, and Bill Farmer, manager of Fort Boonesborough talk about several new aspects of the park. They were informed about the Kentucky River Museum that opened several years ago at the park and about the new museum inside the fort that opened in September 2007.
