If Boyle County is to win a third straight championship, coach Larry French said his team is going to have to do better than it has shown in the preseason. “Everything has been going slow. We'll take a step forward then take two steps back. But they're starting to come around a little bit and starting to improve some,” French said. “We need to improve daily, and if we do I think we've got a chance to be pretty good.” With the opener against 20-time champion Highlands looming on Friday, French admits his team may be feeling the pressure to get better in a hurry.

Eventually, Wiley escaped, and her life story became part of the folklore of Eastern Kentucky. Her name has been attached to a state park located in Prestonsburg, and the outdoor theater at the park. Each year, the Jenny Wiley Outdoor Theatre presents the story of its namesake with “The Legend of Jenny Wiley,” a historical drama about Wiley's life and her capture.

The Cardinals won their first three games of the year, but have struggled and lost their past three games, including a disappointing 21-7 setback at Corbin last week. “Everybody’s tied for first in the district and everybody is 0-0,” Columbia said earlier this week.
