STANFORD - An inmate who walked away from work detail last week in Lincoln County was found Saturday night near Richmond and returned to custody. Christopher S. Spoonamore, 24, of Berea, had last been seen Friday afternoon walking away from work detail with the state road department. He had been serving a five-year sentence on drug charges and was not believed to be dangerous. Spoonamore was returned to the Lincoln County Regional Jail Saturday night after a relative allegedly tipped police to his whereabouts.

Sept. 25, 1984 The Junior Civitan Club recently installed new officers at the Golden Corral Steak House Monday night. New officers include Lyle Travis, vice president; Emily Hazelrigg, president; Dorothy Smart, faculty adviser; Sonya Lowry, secretary; Michelle Crum, sergeant-at-arms, and Laura Carroll, chaplain. Dr. O.C. James was the featured speaker at a joint installation-Ladies Night held by the Kiwanis Club and the Winchester Kiwanis Club at Conkwright Junior High.

The Boyle County girls and boys basketball booster club will host a Meet The Rebels night at 7 p.m. Monday. The 2009-10 basketball team will be presented to the public and will particiapte in various events. The event is free and the entire community is invited to attend.

MIDDLEBURG - Someone vandalized a door and windows over the weekend at the old Middleburg Elementary School, police said. Sheriff Jerry Coffman said someone broke into the school sometime Friday night, but apparently did not enter the building. Windows in a side door were broken. No estimate of damages was reported.

NICHOLASVILLE - The 12th Region baseball championship is scheduled to be decided tonight after the tournament final between Danville and Somerset was rained out Wednesday night. The game will be played at 7 p.m. at West Jessamine.

The attendance at the Green River Pentecostal Church on Sunday morning was 300. Bro. Rick and Sister Timsa Naylor and sons returned home from their vacation Friday. He taught Sunday School Sunday morning and baptized six young converts Sunday night. Bro. Johnny Walls was the speaker on Sunday night. Larry and Daisy Martin and Sheila Chaney spent last Saturday in Estill Springs, Tenn., at a mission conference. Several visitors from the small country of Haiti were in attendance.

Little League's 2009 season begins today, and last night a parade through downtown Winchester officially kicked off the activities.
