OBITUARY
April 24, 2008
Melvin Ewell Saylor, 69, of Cincinnati, Ohio, died Sunday, April 13 in Cincinnati. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, he was born March 6, 1939 to the late George C. and Melinda Eller Saylor. He was an Army veteran. Survivors include two brothers, Solomon Saylor of Atlanta, Ga., and Orville Saylor of Cincinnati, Ohio; and one sister, Mary Sue Saylor of Cincinnati, Ohio. Funeral services were April 18 at McKnight Funeral Home in Crab Orchard with Bro. Dan Gutenson officiating.

Melissa Dawn Nicholas, 16, of Middletown, Ohio, died Monday, March 3 at the St. Joseph Home of Cincinnati. A native of Hamilton County, Ohio, she was born Nov. 28, 1991 to David Lee Nicholas and Christine Hernon both of Middletown, Ohio. Other survivors include a brother, Billy Nicholas of Middletown, Ohio; and paternal grandparents, Gene and Dorothy Nicholas. Funeral services were March 7 at McKnight Funeral Home in Crab Orchard with Bro. Harold Harness officiating. Burial was in Bethel Church of Christ Cemetery.

Sharon Louise Gilreath Syrell, 59, of Washington Court House, Ohio, died Saturday, Dec. 27. A native of Dayton, Ohio, she was born Monday, Nov. 28, 1949, to Clora Routin Robin Burnett of Centerville, Ohio and the late Hubert Roscoe Gilreath. She was a secretary and a member of Far Hills Baptist Church in Ohio. Other survivors include a son, Robert Brian (Chris) Cayce; two brothers, Paul Gilreath and Harold Roger (Donna) Gilreath; and one sister, Patricia (Dick) McFan. Graveside services were Dec. 31 at Double Springs Cemetery with Bro. Ron Shepherd officiating.

Danny Clyde Hopkins, 57, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Crab Orchard, died Wednesday, Sept. 17. A native of Stanford, he was born Oct. 26, 1950 to Laura Pruitt Hopkins of Sharonville, Ohio and the late Clyde Hopkins. Other survivors include a daughter, Amy (Roger) Warrick of Blanchester, Ohio; a son, Danny C. Hopkins, Jr., of Ohio; and three grandchildren, Matthew, Nathaniel, and Alexander Harris. Funeral services were Sept. 20 at McKnight Funeral Home in Crab Orchard with Bro. Dan Gutenson officiating.

Paul E. Greer, 71, of Stanford, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, in Lexington.  Born June 16, 1941, in Waynesburg, Paul was a son of the late Charles and Lena Greer. He was a retired truck driver in Cincinnati, Ohio and a member of Teamsters Local 100 of Evendale, Ohio and  the Pleasant Point Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Gabriel Ruhe. Survivors include two daughters, Jennifer (James) Brewer of Crab Orchard and Paula Jean (John) Ruhe of Fort Wayne, Ind.; two brothers, Ronald (Joan)

Lisa Colleen Shyrigh and Jason Baugh Roberts were married on June 1 in Lexington. The bride is the daughter of Roger and Carol Shyrigh of Columbus, Ohio. The groom is the son of Ralph and Martha Roberts of Stanford. The couple will make their home in Valdosta, Ga.

Dr. and Mrs. Alan Brown of Fort Meyers, Fla., announce the birth of a daughter, Liya Anice Brown on Friday, Sept. 26. She weighed six pounds. The proud grandparents are Alan Larue and Debbie Brown of Cincinnati, Ohio. Great grandparents are Mr. Henry Lewis Brown of Cincinnati, Ohio and the late Mrs. Mattie Bell Brown.

Barbara Jane Anderson, 72, of Springfield, Ohio, died Monday, May 5 in Mercy St. John Center in Ohio. A native of Stanford, she was a daughter of the late George Reid and Virginia Owsley Reid. She was a 1954 graduate of Xenia East High School, 1958 graduate from Central State University, member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Society and the Red Hat Society, taught in the Cincinnati School System and the foreign technology department at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, and worked at Navistar International in Springfield, Ohio.

Loretta Faye Reed Mayberry, 70, of Waynesburg, died Thursday, May 24 at her residence. Born July 26, 1941 in Cisco, Loretta was a daughter of the late Harkless and Eliza Lykins Reed. She was a retired electrician, worked for Square D/Snyder Electric in Ohio and loved spending time with her children and grandkids. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dale A. Mayberry, whom she married on Nov. 21, 1964, in Butler County, Ohio; and a brother, Roger Reed.  Survivors include a son, Dale A. (Deborah)

Edna B. Bullock Noe, 92, of Goshen, Ohio, died Wednesday, Nov. 19 in Goshen, Ohio. A native of Stanford, she was born June 21, 1916 to the late Sam and Dora Whitaker Bullock. She worked at Palm Beach Company in Danville and Butler County Children's Home in Hamilton, Ohio, was a member of Springvale Baptist Church in Loveland, Ohio, and the widow of Dillard Noe.
