The two teams will meet at 4 p.m. Saturday at Rupp Arena and Kennedy isn't looking forward to the contest. “I think they're scary good,” Kennedy said earlier this week. “When you look for holes maybe that you can have an opportunity to exploit, they don't have many. LEXINGTON - Ronnie Sneed is having fun again.¿So are his teammates. Sneed and the defense had plenty to be excited about following a 30-13 trumph over Ole Miss Saturday at Commonwealth Stadium. It was a long time coming for the Wildcats who had lost their first four games in the Southeastern Conference and five of their past six games. “We were bouncing around out there and it feels good,” Sneed said. “Earlier in the season, we were out there (on the field) so much, we were drained and it's hard for us to play as fast as we needed to all of the time.

Mississippi coach Andy Kennedy thought Nerlens Noel would impact Tuesday's game. However, the Ole Miss coach had no idea just how much the Kentucky freshman center would alter the outcome. Even though he missed his only shot as well as six of eight rebounds and was below his season's average with just seven rebounds, Noel impacted UK's 87-74 win in a way few players ever could by blocking a school-record 12 shots. Five came in the last five minutes when he was playing with four fouls.

LEXINGTON - Darius Miller isn't one to lavish praise on himself or display emotion on the court. However, the steady senior and Mason County graduate could hardly contain himself after throwing down a dunk late in the first half that gave top-ranked Kentucky a much-needed boost in a 77-62 victory over Ole Miss Saturday afternoon at Rupp¿Arena. It was a slam that roused the Kentucky contingent after Ole Miss rallied from an early 11-point deficit and took a two-point lead. The slam by Miller, an impressive one-handed throw-down with 4:34 remaining in the first half, resulted in a 14-4 run by the Wildcats to close out the first frame, turning a 31-29 deficit into a 43-35 advantage at the break.

Early in the second half of the UK Hoops game against Tennessee Sunday, Bria Goss jumped off the bench and sprinted towards her teammates after a Jennifer O'Neill three-pointer and a timeout. Jumping up and down, she screamed and gave high-fives as if Kentucky had already won the game. That kind of energy from Goss has been coming off the bench for several games now, after Kastine Evans was given Goss' traditional spot in the starting lineup. It has been a coaching move from Matthew Mitchell that has reaped benefits, including better offensive output from both Evans and Goss.

LEXINGTON - At least three times, Lipscomb coach Scott Sanderson made sure to note his comments meant no disrespect to Kentucky. After all, the Wildcats had just beat his team 88-50 on Saturday at Rupp Arena. But Sanderson certainly pointed out numerous flaws in the Wildcats - and Kentucky coach John Calipari didn't really disagree. “No disrespect to Kentucky, but we self-destructed,” said Sanderson when asked about his team's 24 turnovers and UK's 35-11 run to end the game.

Kentucky isn't taking Mississippi lightly. Although the Rebels were thumped by Vanderbilt 102-76 Thursday night in Oxford, John Calipari expects a challenge from Ole Miss (15-10, 5-6 Southeastern Conference) when the two teams tangle in a 4 p.m. tipoff this afternoon at Rupp¿Arena. Kentucky lost to the Rebels 71-69 last year in Oxford, but gained revenge with a 75-66 victory in the Southeastern Conference Tournament. “They are probably going to come in here ready to go to war,” the Kentucky coach said.
