My, oh my, what a difference a decade makes. As a teenager, I spent many a weekend night cruising the streets of Paducah, ever in pursuit of the elusive Teenage Holy Grail, also known as (insert lethargic sigh here) "something to do. " I have always been attracted to experience, not being passively entertained. I didn't want to sit at a gas station watching the other kids "cruise," and I found sitting in a dark movie theater for two-and-a-half hours detestable. Nope. I wanted to "see" AND "do. " Needless to say, the activity was a bit scant in my neck of the woods for my early independence.

Paducah Tilghman goes into this season considered the team to beat in Class AAA by many. Of course, Hopkinsville had the same lofty aspirations in 2001 and 2002 only to lose close games to Boyle in the playoffs.
