Hosting Tates Creek this Friday, West Jessamine needed to build up as much confidence and momentum as it could heading into the game. On Friday, it was able to get some of that confidence and momentum in a 48-8 drumming of Paris. Drastically undermanned, the Greyhound squad had just 17 players in uniform when they took the field against the Colts. In fact, Paris was a little late getting out to the field at the start of the game, almost as if it were apprehensive to face what it had coming.

PARIS - Since the offense was having its troubles Friday, Garrard County called on its defense to get its first win of the season. The Golden Lions forced eight Paris fumbles (recovering three) intercepted quarterback John Estes twice, sacked Estes four times and held the Greyhounds to 114 yards of total offense in recording an 18-0 shutout here at Blanton Collier Stadium. Turnovers set up all three Garrard touchdowns. "I challenged them at halftime because I wasn't real happy with the way we were playing," Garrard coach Steve Stonebraker said.
