PARKSVILLE - Boyle County law enforcement officials are searching for two people in a late 1980s Nissan sedan who they believe tried to burglarize a Mitchell Lane home Monday morning. About 10 a.m., the female occupant of the residence heard unusual noises at the house's windows and garage, said Sheriff Marty Elliott. The homeowner then noticed a young woman with long brown hair entering the residence through the side garage door. With a handgun, the homeowner confronted the would-be burglar, which caused the suspect to flee the scene, Elliott said.

PARKSVILLE - Authorities used air support to locate 250 marijuana plants valued at about $750,000 on Monday in western Boyle County after they say a witness stumbled upon a field guarded by armed men. Sheriff Marty Elliott said his department received information over the weekend from witnesses who reported seeing two armed men guarding a marijuana crop off Whites Ridge Road. The witnesses said the men told them to leave when they approached. Another person also reported seeing four men who appeared to be armed perched in tree stands, which are typically used for hunting, around the same location.

The articles written by Dana Milbank are intriguing. But I just wonder: Is he for real? His articles are very convincing, but when I read them, and I do read them, to my dismay. Milbank uses his rhetorical skills, and he is good, to put down anyone who is not left wing, like himself. But is the U.S. left or is it right? I'd say it is right, but with people like Milbank around putting such awesome articles in a newspaper, I'd say we are leaning heavily to the left. And if we are right, we won't be long with such rhetoric as his. We may find ourselves living in Sharia before long, because any of the masses who read his eloquent pomposity may be persuaded to vote for Obama.

PARKSVILLE - The oldest undisputed gravesite on the Parksville Cemetery property is about 200 years old, and since that time, the cemetery has thrived on donations to keep it going.  Not much is known about the cemetery during its first 90 years until 1902, when a group of men came together to form an association that would take care of the property.  The group, Parksville Cemetery Association Inc., kept up with the cemetery for exactly...

I want to write this short note to give some credit. I didn't vote for him, and I don't intend to vote for him, but I've got to give it to our President Obama. He is the president of the United States of America. He is the youngest ever to reside in the White House on Pennsylvania Ave.    I have never resided there, you have never lived there, I can safely say that none of your readers have ever lived there, and I very seriously doubt any of us will. Where did he come from? He sure didn't come from the land down under, and we know he is supposed to be a Democrat.

Boyle County will partner with the state to replace a narrow rural bridge that officials say has given them worries as it has aged over the last several years. At Tuesday's Boyle Fiscal Court meeting, representatives from the Department of Highways District 7 office in Lexington said the project to rebuild the bridge on Parksville Crosspike is set to be bid on in June. The span, which is used by county school buses multiple times a day, should be completed by the time school starts next year.
