Sides: seasoned corn, refried beans, pasta salad, tossed salad, fresh fruit, chilled pears, frozen juice bar. Wednesday, 5/31 Choice of one: Steak nuggets with roll, foot long with Coney sauce, ham and cheese sandwich. Sides: potato choice, seasoned peas, pickled beets, fresh fruit, applesauce, Jello with topping.

The Joy XYZ Club from the First United Methodist Church was invited to the home of Boo Baldwin, the coordinator, for a picnic Tuesday, Aug. 12 at 160 Casa Landa Way. The guests were greeted and seated on the beautiful, spacious deck by Bibby Anderson, where the serving tables were spread with beautiful, colorful table cloths with matching flower arrangements, napkins and plates. The guests were served a plentiful amount of salad, pasta salad, fruit salad, country fried chicken, chips, biscuits and a variety of homemade cookies with ice cream.

Spring is here and it is the perfect time to rediscover ruby-red radishes. Radishes, although available year round, are fresh and in season from April through October. Along with cabbage and cauliflower, radishes are a member of the Brassica family. Radishes mature very quickly and only take three to four weeks from planting to harvesting. Radishes are a root vegetable with a crisp texture and slightly peppery flavor. Spring radishes are much milder than late summer radishes which tend to have a sharper bite.
