STANFORD - A Stanford man was arrested for theft Tuesday after police said a "good samaritan" restrained the suspect until law enforcement could arrive on the scene. Cody Griffith, 18, of Stanford, has been charged with theft by unlawful taking, third-degree criminal trespassing and menacing after allegedly trying to steal cash from a Dodge pickup truck on Arrowhead Trail at about 2 a.m. A second suspect in the case is still at-large. Stanford police officer Preston Middleton said Chris Hansford had come out of his house in the early morning hours to let his dog out and noticed a man on a bicycle just up the road from his house.

WINCHESTER POLICE Charged - Jordan Roy Dickens, 22, was charged Wednesday with first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with physical evidence and was served two warrants. Reports - At 1:46 p.m. Wednesday, officers were called to 21 Waveland Ave. for a theft. - At 8:41 p.m. Wednesday, officers were called to Walmart after fishing poles were taken from a pickup truck. - At 9:13 p.m. Wednesday, officers were called to 10 Kentucky St. after a truck threw gravel all over the caller's vehicle.

A Danville woman narrowly escaped serious injury Tuesday afternoon when a tractor-trailer rig loaded with toilet paper and paper towels overturned on top of her SUV as she was preparing to stop for a red light at the intersection of the Danville bypass and Lebanon Road. “I can't believe my head is not crushed,” Wendy Howard, 39, said at the scene as she looked at her GMC Envoy with the front of its cab caved in by the trailer, which was carrying a payload of about 45,000 pounds.

LANCASTER - Garrard County officials are awaiting results to explain the death of a man that went missing last week. Christian Robinette, 41, of Lancaster was reported missing by his wife, Renee Vest, about 9:30 p.m. last Thursday, after the couple had been arguing. An investigation by the Garrard County Sheriff's Office led to Robinette's storage unit at Eastside Storage Thursday afternoon. Inside the unit, they found Robinette dead in his pickup truck. Garrard County Coroner Daryl Hodge said Robinette was lying down in the front seat in a sleeping position with his head at the passenger side and his feet near the steering wheel.

A young Kentucky State Police trooper died Tuesday night in Clark County when his pickup truck collided with a tow truck on Interstate 64. Trooper Anson Blake Tribby, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene near the eastbound 99-mile marker, according to the state police. Tribby was off duty and in a Toyota pickup truck at the time of the crash, police said. State police have not released how the crash occurred. Clark County firefighters were called to the crash scene at 7:17 p.m. Tuesday, about 30 minutes after they responded to a vehicle fire at the 99-mile marker in the westbound lanes, according to the Clark County Fire Department.

Nicholasville police and fire departments worked a three-vehicle crash involving a RJ Corman pickup truck, a Kia Rio and a Cheverolet Malibu around 2 p.m. Tuesday. Two people were transported to Lexington hospitals by Jessamine County EMS with undisclosed injuries. According to police, the Malibu was turning left from Wichita Drive onto southbound U.S. 27 and hit a white Kia, that was traveling north on U.S. 27. Both cars ended up striking the pickup truck. The police have not released names of those involved as of yet. The accident slowed traffic in both directions of U.S. 27 for about 40 minutes as one lane in each direction was closed.

A Winchester man is facing multiple charges after his pickup truck crashed into a home on Holly Avenue Friday night. Winchester Police officers were called to 20 Holly Ave. shortly after 8 p.m. Friday when a Ford pickup truck struck the front porch of the home of Tamatha Deaton. The vehicle also pulled some electrical wires loose, according to the accident report. Witnesses told police that the driver, later identified as 42-year-old Darrell Ritchie of 386 Gist Ave., tried to back up and leave the scene several times.

Police are searching for one of the suspects in Wednesday's burglary after he was released from the hospital before police obtained their arrest warrants. Wednesday afternoon, Howard Gross and Tony Gross were officially charged with complicity and first-degree burglary, respectively, after they were shot outside 414 E. Broadway earlier that morning. Winchester Police Capt. James Hall said Tony Gross is still in the University of Kentucky Medical Center recovering from his gunshot wound to the leg, while Howard Gross Jr. was released before police made contact with him at the hospital.

A late night argument outside a Winchester apartment building led to one death and the arrest of another man on murder charges. Andrew Williamson, 46, of 149 Winn Ave. Apt. 1, was arrested early this morning and charged with beating Joseph Jones to death with a baseball bat following a verbal argument, according to court documents. Williamson was at the scene when police arrived around 11:30 p.m. Monday, Winchester Police Sgt. Tom Beall wrote in the arrest citation. During questioning, Williamson said he went to his room after the argument, got the bat, and returned to the front porch of the building where Jones was sitting.
