Lincoln County fire fighters and Waynesburg EMS responded to a call of a tree down and burning power lines high up on Spice Ridge the afternoon of Feb. 6 and found themselves just about blown off the ridge. High winds toppled a locust tree onto the roof of a mobile home, ripping power lines in the process. The downed lines and resulting fire caused little trouble compared to the wind. Rain, driven by 50-mph winds, pummeled firefighters as they approached, making it difficult for them to even to stand upright.
