Ima Jean Keith, 81, of Science Hill, passed away Monday, May 27, at her residence. Born April 10, 1932, in Pulaski County, Ima Jean was a daughter of the late Millard and Lucinda Mae Jones Tilley. She was an aide and cook for Hill Top Rest Home. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Romer L. Keith Sr., who died on May 24, 2011; two brothers, Carroll Ray Tilley and Lawrence Tilley; three sisters, Opal Geneva Lewis, Helen Geraldine Tilley and Eyvonne Guffrey; and son-in-law, Gerald Vanhook.

Every area baseball and softball team will play an elimination game today as postseason play begins with the start of district tournaments. All six Advocate-area district baseball and softball tournaments get under way today with semifinal doubleheaders. Five of them are scheduled to conclude Tuesday, with one carrying over to Wednesday. The top two teams in each district advance to the 12th Region tournaments. Both the baseball and softball regionals will be played at Rockcastle County next week.

Minnie Eldora Wesley Mullins, 92, of Science Hill, passed away Monday, May 6, at Somerwoods Nursing & Rehabilitation. Born Dec. 22, 1920, in Pulaski County, Minnie was a daughter of the late Charles Joshua and Bertie B. Wheeler Wesley. She had retired from Palm Beach as a seamstress and was a member of West Science Hill Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clinton O. Mullins, who died on May 28, 2002; a son, Larry Clinton Mullins; three brothers, Raymond Thomas Wesley, William Ray Wesley and Andrew Clayton "Jake" Wesley; three sisters, Emily Marget Haggard, Amanda Emiline Massey Ballard and Fannie Jane Roberts; and one grandchild.

Lincoln County girls basketball senior Emily Fox added a final award to her career, as she was named to Kentucky's 2013 All-State Basketball Second Team. She was one of just five regional players named to an All-State team and the only one on the Second Team. The Austin Peay signee averaged 16.9 points in her senior season and surpassed 2,000 points in scoring to become Lincoln County's all-time leading scorer. Fox shot 43 percent from the field and 78.1 percent at the foul line and had 81 3-point goals this past season.

Pamela Sue Turpin, 44, of Eubank, passed away Thursday, April 25, at her residence. Born Dec. 26, 1968, in Pulaski County, Pamela was a daughter of Christine Dick Ashley of Eubank and the late Rufus Bud Young. She was a homemaker and certified nurse's aide. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Brittany Turpin; and a sister, Tammy Surber. Other survivors include her husband, John Turpin of Eubank; stepfather, Leo Ashley of Eubank; three sons, Chris Young and Gregory and Brandon Turpin of Eubank; four brothers, Rick, Lee and Ray Young and Michael Dick; and four grandchildren, Braylin Cox, Cheyenne Turpin, Kayden Brooks and Aidan Thomas.

Sophomore runner Brian Carlson was the lead runner in his last two 3200-meter races, capturing first place in the event at the Boyle County Invitational and the Pulaski County All-Comers meet. Carlson racked up his latest win at Danville Friday night, covering the 3200 distance in 10:06.86. The Boyle finish was an improvement in time from his win at the meet in Somerset, almost 21 seconds faster than his finish on the Pulaski County High track. Carlson won that event in 10:27.1. Lincoln's top male runner didn't have to fend for first in his win at Pulaski, with Southwestern's Corey Owens six seconds back in a time of 10:33.8.

Danville's Sam Nelson, Josh Joiner and Jake Rankin each posted wins at singles and doubles Monday as the Admirals downs visiting Boyle County 7-2. Ben Underwood had a singles and doubles win for the Rebels. Casey County 5, Pulaski County 0 - At Somerset, the Rebels won two tie-breakers in doubles play to pull off the sweep over the host Maroons. Skyler Wright and Taylor Leigh won a three-setter at No. 1 doubles and Trent Rodgers and Justin Underwood did the same at No. 2 doubles.

The Mercer County boys won five singles matches Thursday to set the stage for a 7-2 win over Pulaski County at Harrodburg. Jacob Crowell and Andrew Yeager won in straight sets for Mercer at Nos. 1 and 2 singles, and they teamed for a super tiebreaker win at No. 1 doubles. Casey County 8, Somerset 1 - At Liberty, Skyler Wright and Taylor Leigh pulled out a 9-7 win at No. 1 doubles for Casey after the Rebels swept six singles matches. Girls Mercer County 8, Pulaski County 1 - At Harrodsburg, Mercer swept singles play and won the top two doubles matches in its win over Pulaski.

Ralph Allen Williams, 67, of Graysville, Ala., died Friday, April 12, at Princeton Hospital in Birmingham, Ala. Born Wednesday, Nov. 28, 1945, in Pulaski County, Ralph was a son of the late Lewis and Maxine Greer Williams. He was a truck driver and member of Pilot Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by one son; one brother, Delbert Williams; and one sister, Francis Williams. Survivors include two sons; two daughters; and three brothers, Glen Williams of Rush, Robert (Carol)

STANFORD - Lincoln County Superintendent Karen Hatter has said she looked at the potential for cutting central office positions while considering which budget cuts to recommend, but found that the central office was not overstaffed. An analysis by The Interior Journal of district data profiles from the Legislative Research Commission found no evidence contradicting Hatter's assessment. Hatter told board members earlier in March she contacted other area districts about the size of their central office staffs and determined Lincoln County's central office has an appropriate level of staffing.
