The Boyle County girls fell behind by four goals Saturday and lost to West Jessamine 4-1 in the finals of the Sears of Danville Rebel Showdown. Boyle's lone goal came from Kelsea Logue, who took a crossing pass from Lauren Paynter and put it in the net late in the game. Boyle (8-3-1) had its chances to score, coach Brian Deem said. "Sarah Hall had a couple of shots go wide, and Paynter had a one-on-one with the keeper, but was stopped," Deem said. "It's not like we didn't have opportunities.

Boyle County got four goals from Sarah Hall and seven assists from Joanna Frauenhoffer in a 9-0 win over Bryan Station Tuesday at Danville. Lydia Hignite also scored three times for Boyle (7-6-1), which held the Defenders (0-15) without a shot in the game. "I was worried because Bryan Station has struggled a lot and I was worried that we would have a letdown," Boyle coach Brian Deem said. "But the girls answered the call, did their jobs and took care of business. " It was the third game this season that Hall has scored four times in a game, and Deem said her interactions with Frauenhoffer on the field contribute to that.

The pressure is on Lauren Paynter, and that is just fine by her. After a breakout freshman season, the Boyle County sophomore is expecting even more out of herself as she tries to get the Rebels back to the Elite Eight and beyond. She will be counted on even more than she thought, too, after an injury to a key team member in the spring. Paynter had 35 goals and 11 assists last season when the Rebels reached the Elite Eight for the first time in school history and finished 16-6-1.

LANCASTER - Boyle County girls soccer coach Brian Deem said the last few weeks have been "ugly" for his team as the players struggled with their touches and passes. The Rebels didn't seem to have many problems Tuesday, though, picking up five assists and three goals from Sarah Hall in a 6-0 win over host Garrard County. "It's been constant bad first touches and no possession," Deem said. "We've been working and working and working and we've gradually gotten better. I think tonight, it picked up and we saw the girls making concerted efforts to try to do what they've been practicing.

Sarah Hall is only two games into her sophomore season at Boyle County, but she's already written her name into the school's record books. Hall scored three goals in the first half Thursday, becoming the all-time leading goal-scorer in girls soccer, as Boyle rolled to a 9-0 win over visiting Russell County. Hall scored twice in the first 3 minutes, 28 seconds of the game to tie the record held by Joanna Frauenhoffer, who took four years to set the mark. However, it took her another 29 minutes to get the record.

BOYLE COUNTY Boyle County is getting better in a hurry. The Lady Rebels were the most improved team in the 12th Region last year, going from a 7-21 mark in 2003-04 to a 19-12 season and the team's first district title in seven years. And coach Judie Mason said they should be even better this season. "Winning the district was great for one night ... but we've got to take it to another level this year," Mason said. "We're better at this point than we've been at any point since I've been here.
