The Crazy Quilters Homemaker Club was formed in September 2006, specifically geared toward women interested in learning to quilt or already experienced and wanting to quilt with other women. This club welcomes new members. Anyone wishing to join or learn more about this club is encouraged to contact the Cooperative Extension Office. When Judy Kriz is invited to a summer gathering, people know they can count on her Texas Mexican Dip accompanying her. She discovered the recipe, which includes a layer of avocado, in 1983 when she was single and living in an apartment. "The girl who lived next door invited me to a cookout and someone there had that," says Kriz. During the last five or 10 years, she has made it quite a bit and the bits of sauces and other ingredients staining her recipe card reveal that.

Chicken Tortillas 1 tablespoon garlic 1/2 cup onion 4 boneless chicken breasts 1 can green chilis 1 tablespoon ground coriander 1 can chicken broth 1 package tortillas 8 ounces sour cream 2 tablespoons flour Monterey Jack cheese to taste. Another type, such as Mexican mix, may be used. Finely chop onion. Boil chicken and cut into bite-sized pieces. Drain green chilis. Mix flour into sour cream. Put tortillas in oven on 350 degrees.

Potato Skins 5 medium potatoes 1/4 pound bacon fried and crumbled or left in strips, or use bacon bits 1/2 to 3/4 cup sour cream 1/2 to 3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese Oil for deep frying Salt and pepper to taste Bake potatoes. Slice in half. Spoon out potato, leaving 1/2 to 3/4 inch of potato inside skin. Deep fry for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oil, drain. Top skins with bacon bits and cheese. Place under broiler for about one minute or until cheese melts.
