STANFORD - Three people were arrested Friday night in Stanford for allegedly manufacturing methamphetamine after police officers found two meth labs in a child's bedroom. Officers found the meth labs in a house on Lacy Street, near Star Avenue, according to Stanford police. Children were present in the home when the labs were found, police said. Lincoln County Regional Jail records show three people who were charged with manufacturing methamphetamine by Stanford police: Clancy Fields, 41, of Hustonville; Amie Fields, 31, of Stanford; and Dakota Goode, 20, of Danville.

STANFORD - A pair of Lincoln County funeral homes are back in the family after 14 years under the ownership of Texas-based Carriage Services. John David and Mary Friend finalized their purchase of Fox Funeral Home in Stanford and Barnett-Demrow Funeral Home in Waynesburg Tuesday at 11 a.m. "It's a true honor to be able to serve the people of Lincoln County," John David Friend said. "We feel that this is a ministry for us. This is the best way that we know to give back to our community.

STANFORD - “Plate Flower Yard Art” was on tap Tuesday at the First Southern Community Arts Center. The center was the site of the first in a series of Third Tuesday Art Shops. Each participant came with plates, saucers and small bowls, some family pieces, and some Goodwill finds. With a little drilling, glue and a few glass blobs for bling. These were turned into colorful new treasures to adorn gardens or potted plants.  The Art Center plans to have a different Artshop at 6:30 p.m. each Third Tuesday of the month.

STANFORD - Stanford will hold its annual downtown Christmas parade at 5:30 p.m. Saturday. The theme is “A Rockin' Christmas.” All entries are welcome. Line-up will be at 5 p.m. at the school board office on Danville Street. Santa will arrive, and the Snow Queen will be crowned after the parade.

STANFORD - A toddler is safe at home after being found wandering outside alone Thursday morning wearing only a diaper and T-shirt at a Stanford apartment complex. About 10 a.m., Stanford police responded to Lincoln Terrace Apartments after a maintenance worker reported finding a child at the apartment complex's playground. The temperature was about 25 degrees. Sgt. T.J. Hill said the 2-year-old boy woke up early and “managed to get out while the mother was still sleeping with another child.” Despite a gate blocking the door and a child-proof door knob, the child wandered outside to the playground about 50 yards from the apartment, Hill said.

LANCASTER - A Stanford man died and another is being treated for injuries after a traffic collision the morning of Dec. 26 in Garrard County. At 10:22 a.m., Kentucky State Police in Richmond responded to the crash on U.S. 27 in northern Garrard County. Police said Jason Grizzell, 33, of Stanford, was driving north on U.S. 27 when his 1987 Toyota Corolla station wagon crossed the center line and collided with a southbound 2007 Mercedes sport-utility vehicle driven by Islam Ali, 31, of Nicholasville.

STANFORD - Roughly one-fourth of the employees at a major Lincoln County employer will be losing their jobs, but local officials say rumors the company is leaving Lincoln County are false. Economic Development Director Matt Belcher said Affinia Brake Parts Inc. will be reducing the workforce at its Stanford factory by 75. BPI announced in late October it was planning “permanent employment separations” beginning Dec. 28, but did not provide a number at that time. BPI currently employs about 300 people.

STANFORD - A Lincoln County man accused of distributing pornographic electronic images to a minor was arrested Wednesday. Lincoln County Sheriff's Office reported to 885 Goshen Road, Lot 58, and arrested David Alsman, 46, on a Kenton County warrant. The warrant said an investigation that started in 2010 revealed Alsman allegedly had sent more than 85 pornographic emails to what he thought was a 14-year-old girl, according to a press release. Police said the emails contained 44 images and 40 videos of adult pornographic scenes, and 15 images of Alsman.

STANFORD - A highly visible business along U.S. 27 has closed its Stanford doors after decades in Lincoln County. The local Clayton Mobile Homes branch, with its prominent blue sign on a hill just north of the intersection of U.S. 27 and U.S. 150, closed for business earlier this month. Billboards on display at the location now say the business has relocated to Somerset, where a Clayton Mobile Homes branch already exists. No one who worked at the local business was available for comment.

STANFORD - A gas leak on Lancaster Street Monday afternoon caused the evacuation of several homes, but no one was injured and responders were able to clear the scene in about half an hour. The leak was created when Richard Naylor, who was mowing the yard of his daughter's home at 908 Lancaster Street, hit a gas meter with his lawn mower a little before 3 p.m., Stanford Police Officer Tim Morris said. Morris was the first one on the scene after the leak sprung, and he said he could hear the gas pipe leaking from four or five properties away.

Robert Donald “Bobby” Denham, 83, of KY Hwy 1247, Stanford, passed away Saturday, May 11, at Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital in Stanford.  Born Friday, April 25, 1930, in McKinney, “Bobby” was a son of the late Virgil P. and Maudie Baugh Denham. He graduated from McKinney High School and had retired from the Engineers Office at the State Highway Department and as a state highway bridge inspector. Bobby was a member of New Bethel Church of Christ in Jumbo, a charter member of the Masonic Lodge 631 in McKinney, a former Boy Scout Master in McKinney and a Kentucky Colonel.

MORELAND - A Kings Mountain man was airlifted to a hospital Tuesday night after a Stanford man shot him from a distance with a shotgun. Adam Alford, 18, of Stanford, has been charged with first-degree assault after admitting to shooting at Farren Rowland, 48, of Kings Mountain, along Ky. 1194, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office. According to a news release, Alford told police he shot at Rowland with a .410-gauge shotgun from a second-story apartment window while Rowland was sitting in a vehicle.

STANFORD - Baseball fans had to do a double take when they looked at the scoreboard Monday after Lincoln pinch hitter Tyler Poynter banged out a grand slam home run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Was the scoreboard correct? Had the Patriots actually battled their way back from an 11-1 deficit to challenge Somerset 11-10? The answer to both questions was yes. Lincoln had almost erased the 10-run deficit with nine runs over the fifth and sixth innings, however, the Patriots came up short in the rally effort, falling 13-10 to the visiting Briar Jumpers.

The Stanford Lions Club will conduct its third annual Radio Auction 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at the WPBK Radio Station. All proceeds from the auction will help the Stanford Lions Club build a second picnic shelter and more picnic tables for the City of Stanford and Lincoln County. J.T. Lyon hit a three-run home run to highlight a five-run seventh inning Thursday as Garrard County rallied to defeat Lincoln County 5-2 in Stanford in the final 45th District game of the season. Lyon's homer gave host Garrard the lead and helped the Golden Lions avenge an earlier loss to Lincoln and secure a tie for second place in the final district standings, which determine seeding for the 45th District Tournament later this month. Garrard (14-12, 3-3 district) and Danville finished in a tie for second place behind Boyle County.

Walker Earl Rowe Sr., 76, of Lancaster, passed away Wednesday, April 24, at his home.  Born April 21, 1937, in Mount Vernon,  Walker was a son of the late Gilbert and Mattie Renner Rowe. He was the owner of County Line Auto Sales for 30 years, a member of the Pentecostal Faith and loved racing, cars, and going to auctions. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Henry Rowe; and one sister; Hazel Lucas. Survivors include his companion and dear friend for over 30 years, Linda Durham; three sons, Walker (Deborah)
