Danville Fire Department responded to a structure fire Sunday at Apartment 38 at Balasa Drive, where one occupant complained of chest pains said Woody Ball, assistant fire chief. Boyle County Emergency Medical Service transported the occupant from the scene to the hospital after the person became ill due to anxiety of the fire. The American Red Cross responded and gave aid to the victims. Firefighters arrived at the scene at 7:58 a.m. where the fire was brought under control at 8:04 a.m. The apartment was inhabited by Julie Hale.

- During the weekend, emergency personnel conducted two local transfers and four out-of-town transfers. They also responded to 10 general medical calls, six respiratory cases, one stroke, one overdose, two motor vehicle accidents, one diabetic case, eight falls, six cardiac cases and two engine assists. - At 11:30 a.m. Sunday, firefighters were called to Rogers Exhaust in Shoppers Village. When firefighters arrived, there was smoke coming from the front and roof of the business. A small fire was located in one corner of the shop.

- At 1:39 p.m. Friday, firefighters responded to an injury accident on Lafayette Boulevard. - At 11:22 p.m. Saturday, firefighters responded to an all-terrain vehicle accident at 1466 Elkin Station Road. - At 7:37 p.m. Sunday, firefighters assisted EMS¿personnel with a call on Sewell Shop Road. - At 8:54 p.m. Sunday, firefighters were called to 2535 Ecton Road for a structure fire. The residents left food on the stove, which caught on fire while they were outside.

City police officers and firefighters suspect arson in a small house fire Wednesday night. Firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire at 2 First St. shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday. No one was home, but witnesses reported seeing a man running away from the house, Winchester Fire-EMS Maj. Greg Beam said. "It's not much of a fire," Beam said. "Actually just one row of siding (was damaged) and that was it. " Firefighters noted in their run report that they smelled gasoline at the scene, and Beam confirmed an accelerant was used.

One injured in traffic accident Danville police investigated a two-vehicle accident Wednesday in which one person was sent to the hospital with possible injuries. Melissa P. Releford, 35, of Harrodsburg, was driving a 1998 Chevrolet pickup on Ky. 52, when she stopped at the intersection with U.S. 150. Her vehicle was hit in the rear by a 2002 Nissan pickup driven by Jennifer L. Irvin, 29, of Berea. Irvin told police both vehicles stopped at the light, and Releford began to move when the light turned green, then suddenly stopped.
