This is the second year in a row that the Centre College Youth Baseball Camp has gone off campus, because Centre's field is under construction for the second straight summer. Gary Wright Field has undergone significant changes over the last four years, and this is the second straight year that the diamond itself is being resurfaced, so the summer camp has once again found a home at Danville's Admiral Field. "(Danville) coach (Paul) Morse has been very good about allowing us to use the field," Centre coach Mike Pritchard said.

It was the last week of school for Polly Lewis' fourth-graders at the Danville Christian Academy's Gethsemane Baptist Church campus, and the anticipation of summer was written all over the kids' faces and exhibited in their actions. There definitely were a lot of smiles and a lot of excitement, although the students controlled themselves as well as they could. They were orderly as they lined up to enter their classroom and quiet as they walked to their desks. But at the request of a reporter, seven of the students were given a 15-minute break from their classroom duties for a quick assignment - to talk about their plans for the summer.

Chuck Smith told Jordan Aumiller and the Boyle County coaching staff exactly what Aumiller had to do if he wanted a scholarship offer from Kentucky. "He had to come to our summer camp and do well. If you can do that, then obviously you are a good player and coach (Rich) Brooks has really been good about offering scholarships to players who come to camp and prove to him that they are good players," said Smith, Kentucky's linebackers coach who was also recently promoted to recruiting coordinator.
