A two-year investigation into gun and drug trafficking nearly wrapped up Wednesday morning as officers and federal agents swept Clark County looking for 20 suspects. Winchester Police Capt. James Hall said the arrests were the result of a joint investigation between Winchester Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. Other suspects were taken into federal custody on indictment warrants, he said, and were not included in the local arrest totals. Hall said the suspects included low-, mid- and high-level drug dealers, but they were not linked to other cities and did not appear to be part of an organized group with one person in charge, he said.

STANFORD - It was the kind of match Billy Douglas would have loved. His daughter Samantha knew that, which is why she couldn't keep from crying Tuesday night after she and her Lincoln County teammates won the 45th District Tournament. Lincoln swept Boyle County in three sets to capture its first district title since 2006, riding the momentum of two significant streaks late in the second set and early in the third to a 25-23, 25-21, 25-13 victory. It was after the Patriots got their hands on the trophy and after the requisite photos were taken, that Samantha Douglas' emotions overtook her as she thought of her father, who died May 10 at age 57 after a battle with lymphoma.

West Jessamine cruised to its 21st win of the season Tuesday night with a 3-0 sweep of rival East Jessamine. On the court, it was Lady Colts who won the battle, defeating East for a second time this season and securing the No. 1 seed in the district. “Our purpose coming in here was knowing that we're probably going to play them in the district and to realize this was a district game to get us to the region,” West Jessamine coach Debbie Rose said.
