The Freeman Corporation, located at 415 Magnolia St., will be receiving a tax incentive of $500,000 and will expand in the coming months. The hardwood veneer manufacturing company, which has been operating in Winchester for nearly 100 years, is planning a $3.4 million expansion, said Todd Denham, Winchester-Clark County's Economic Development Director. He also said the expansion would add 32 jobs to the workforce which will pay an average $17 per hour with benefits. The incentive was approved Thursday by the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority board.

An international trading and manufacturing company recently received preliminary approval for $500,000 in tax incentives under the Kentucky Business Investment Program and is slated to bring 60 new jobs to Boyle County, according to the Cabinet for Economic Development website. TransNav Technologies, a plastic injection molding company headquartered in Michigan, is in the preliminary stages of creating a 34,400-square-foot facility at an undisclosed Boyle County location. The company plans to invest about $5.5 million into the project.

What ideas do you have to increase revenue or to create revenue streams for the city of Wilmore? 1) Work with the landlords of Downtown Wilmore to update the facilities they own for renting to businesses by offering tax incentives. 2) Offering tax incentives to new businesses so as to draw them to our downtown. 3) Utilize the commercial land set out in the Wilmore/Nicholasville/Jessamine County Joint Comprehensive Plan 2010 for Wilmore's area for businesses by offering tax incentives.

The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority approved a proposal Thursday that would give $10.25 million in Kentucky business incentives to a subsidiary of Amazon.com, should it choose to open a $20-million customer support center in Winchester. To receive the full tax credit from the state, the company, AMZN.wacs Inc, would have to create 550 full-time jobs and 600 part-time and seasonal jobs, said Todd Denham, executive director of the Winchester-Clark County Industrial Authority.

SMC, LLC, located at 400 Enterprise Drive, received a tax incentive for $1.5 million from the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority, Jessamine County Economic Authority Director Wayne Foster said. SMC, which purchased Custom Wiring last spring, manufactures circuit boards for the electronic industry. Foster said it will be affiliated with Custom Wiring and will operate out of the same building of more than 22,000 square feet. “They're up and running,” Foster said during a phone interview last week.

After almost two years of referring to it as "Project Thrust," local officials joined Gov. Steve Beshear on Friday in announcing Meggitt Aircraft Braking Systems will locate a second facility in Danville. "When a company like Meggitt chooses you a second time, it is a good indication you are doing something right," Beshear told a crowd gathered at Weisiger Park. The expansion will bring 63 new jobs and an investment of about $7.3 million. The British company already has a carbon processes facility in the John Hill Bailey Industrial Park that employs 70 people.

Boyle County may be close to landing another industrial operation after local governments approved tax incentives this week. Boyle Fiscal Court approved a .325 percent occupational license tax credit Tuesday for employees of Meggitt Aircraft Braking Systems Corp. for a period of 10 years. The action came a day after Danville City Commission gave first reading to an ordinance granting a .625 percent credit. The 1 percent total represents half of the occupational license fees for the county and city, respectively.

Walle Corporation, a local industry that prints product labels, will receive $500,000 in state tax incentives to help with a $4.1 million expansion and create dozens of new jobs, Gov. Steve Beshear announced Friday. The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority has preliminarily approved the deal through the Kentucky Business Investment program. The agreement allows Walle to retain a portion of employee taxes that would normally go into state coffers over a 10-year period.
