AARP seeks volunteers to prepare tax returns LEXINGTON - AARP Tax-Aide, a free, volunteer-run counseling and preparation service, is seeking volunteers from Danville and surrounding cities , who want to learn tax law and help prepare tax returns for middle and low income taxpayers. AARP Tax-Aide volunteers are trained in cooperation with the Internal Revenue Service. Volunteers are asked to give a minimum commitment of four hours per week over the 10-week tax season. Individuals of all backgrounds and skill levels are encouraged to apply.

Taylor named to Red Cross post Karen Reid Taylor has joined the staff of the Central Kentucky Chapter of the American Red Cross as its health and safety director. Taylor, who holds a degree in social work from the University of Kentucky, will be responsible for coordinating the chapter's health and safety course offerings, ensuring that all the chapter's health and safety activities operate within the standards set by the national organization, coordinating the chapter's first aid stations at local events, and training volunteers who work in the chapter's health and safety program.
