HARRODSBURG - A Danville man and a Harrodsburg woman were arrested Sunday for allegedly stealing a purse out of a woman's vehicle in Mercer County, police said. A woman filed a report with the Mercer County Sheriff's Office that her purse was stolen out of her vehicle.  At 11:30 p.m. Sunday, officers from the Mercer County Sheriff's Office, the Harrodsburg Police Department and the Boyle County Sheriff's Office went to the Country Hearth Inn in Harrodsburg to investigate an unrelated narcotics complaint.

STANFORD - A Lincoln County man was arrested Wednesday in connection with a theft ring involving equipment stolen in Lincoln and Casey counties and sold out of state. Trevor Sims, 22, was taken into custody at his Skyline Drive residence by Lincoln Deputy Sheriff John Williams and Casey Deputy Sheriff Chad Weddle and charged with burglary and receiving stolen property. He was lodged in the Casey County Detention Center. Lincoln Sheriff Curt Folger said the two deputies tracked three stolen zero-turn mowers and a golf cart to a location in Tennessee and used information obtained in that investigation to get a search warrant for Sims' residence.

Danville police are investigating a gun theft that was reported Monday.  Elmer Asher Jr. of 412 Grant St. told police he had five pistols stolen from his unlocked vehicle parked outside his residence. The theft occurred during the night between Sunday and Monday. Police Chief Tony Gray said the guns are a .380 pistol, a 9mm pistol and possibly three .22 caliber pistols. They were valued at about $1,000. Two knives and a bottle of liquor also were taken.  Anyone with information can contact police at (859)

A Hustonville man was arrested Thursday night after allegedly stealing railroad property in Danville. About 11:30 p.m., Danville police officer Sam Butler was doing surveillance near a portion of railroad under the Danville bypass. Police said there had been recent thefts and burglaries in that area, and Butler observed a vehicle on the railroad's property. Butler called for backup and officers made contact with Roy Fate Rose, 33. Rose permitted officers to view the contents of his vehicle, which included pieces of steel appearing to have come from the railroad.

Winchester Police charged the manager of a local pawn shop with theft after he allegedly sold items to himself, then sold them on eBay. Bryan Blankenship, 24, of Versailles, was arrested Tuesday for theft by deception and two counts of theft of identity in connection with the scam. Winchester Police Detective Dennis Briscoe said Blankenship was the store manager of Dan's Discount Pawn on West Lexington Avenue. For a couple of months, Blankenship had been accepting items through the store at established prices, but sold them to himself at a lower price.

A Winchester woman was arrested late Thursday afternoon after allegedly embezzling about $24,000 from The Winchester Sun. Michelle Holloman, 38, of 194 Wabash Ave. Apt. 9, was brought in for questioning Thursday afternoon, Winchester Police Capt. James Hall said, after company representatives reported the theft in June. “It seems to be clear cut,” Hall said. “The evidence pointed directly to her. She made no statements to her involvement. With the evidence we had on hand, we felt it was necessary to charge her with a crime.” Following the interview, she was arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking more than $10,000, which is a felony with a sentence of five to 10 years in prison if convicted.

The Jessamine County Sheriff's office is seeking help from the community in an attempt to identify and locate suspects believed to have been involved in a theft from American Venture Industrial Co. at 131 Dewey Drive Tuesday afternoon. Around 4:40 p.m., two people driving an older model Chevrolet Suburban, pulling a small trailer, entered the parking lot on Dewey Drive and removed an equipment dolly and a steel section of an I-Beam from the property. The items are valued at $900, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

A Nicholasville day-care worker has been charged with eight counts of theft by unlawful taking, according to a Nicholasville Police Department news release. Pamela Sandlin, 53, of 221 Jason Drive in Nicholasville, an employee at Kids Connection Learning Center on Southview Drive, was arrested Tuesday, April 3. She is accused of taking more than $322,000 over an eight-year period. According to the arrest citation, the breakdown of money allegedly stolen is as follows: • 2005 - $32,571.37 • 2006 - $36,103.35 • 2007 - $44,396.17 • 2008 - $60,173.67 • 2009 - $49,278.14 • 2010 - $46,074.27 • 2011 - $43,425.11 • 2012 - $10,605.90 The total sum stolen, according to the citiation, was $322,567.88.

LIBERTY - Two men were charged Monday evening after they allegedly took a crosscut saw and single tree harness from a Ky. 49 residence, police said. Robert Gerwitz, 45, of Lebanon Junction, and Shelby Nix, 41, of Shepherdsville, were charged with theft by unlawful taking under $300, according to a report by Deputy Sheriff Chad Weddle. The suspects were lodged in Casey County Detention Center. The items were taken from the residence of Alice Passmore while she was away from home.

A former circulation manager of the Winchester Sun was indicted Thursday for allegedly taking more than $19,000 from the business during her employment. Michelle Holloman, 38, of Winchester, was charged with theft by unlawful taking over $10,000 and second-degree persistent felony offender, which stems from a similar case in Fayette County in 2010. Holloman was terminated from the Sun in May 2012 after an internal audit discovered that more than $24,000 was missing from company funds.

Police are investigating a burglary reported Wednesday evening in Danville. At 6 p.m. Danville police responded to the residence of James T. Baker at 704 Hillcrest Drive for reports of a burglary that happened during the 24 hours prior. According to a press release, the suspects kicked in a back door and forced entry into a gun safe. The suspects allegedly stole seven firearms and fled the scene, the release stated. Reported missing was a .45 Caliber Smith and Wesson Pistol, a .45 Caliber Sig-Sauer Pistol, a .22 Caliber Stevens Rifle, a .22 Caliber Ruger Rifle, two Remington 12 gauge shotguns and one Remington 20 gauge shotgun.

PERRYVILLE - A Danville man was arrested Thursday afternoon and is believed to be a suspect in burglaries from three counties, police said. About 3 p.m. Thusday, Boyle County Deputy Sheriff Taylor Bottom responded to Craintown Road after a resident reported his outbuilding had been broken into.  Deputy Bottom was advised by dispatch the suspect had left the scene in a maroon-colored car, according to a press release. While on his way to the scene, Bottom spotted the suspected vehicle speeding.

A Danville man and a juvenile were arrested Monday evening after two iPhones were reported stolen on Centre College's campus. About 6:30 p.m., Danville police responded to the campus center in response to two iPhones stolen from an outdoor table where the students reporting the incident were studying. Police tracked the two phones to an area on North Fifth Street near Broadway, according to a press release, where contact was made with Weston Enderlin, 18, and a 17-year-old juvenile.  The release stated a police investigation revealed Enderlin and the juvenile were in possession of the stolen phones, which were seized and returned to the victims.
