Around the four- to six-month mark, your child can start to eat some solid foods, including finger foods. The transition to solid foods starts with foods like cereals and then progresses to foods like veggies and meat. Some parents have some questions about when their child is allowed to begin eating real solid foods like cookies and crackers, and whether their child needs teeth to start eating these things. The answer is no because even if your six- to seven-month-old has teeth, he or she will not begin chewing until older.

STANFORD - A toddler is safe at home after being found wandering outside alone Thursday morning wearing only a diaper and T-shirt at a Stanford apartment complex. About 10 a.m., Stanford police responded to Lincoln Terrace Apartments after a maintenance worker reported finding a child at the apartment complex's playground. The temperature was about 25 degrees. Sgt. T.J. Hill said the 2-year-old boy woke up early and “managed to get out while the mother was still sleeping with another child.” Despite a gate blocking the door and a child-proof door knob, the child wandered outside to the playground about 50 yards from the apartment, Hill said.

Keeping a bookcase in your child's room is a great way to encourage your child to read books, and it develops a love for collecting favorite books because it gives her a place to exhibit her collection. The first step is to decide where the bookcase will be placed. You want it to be in an area to allow for easy access to the books, and it should be visible from all parts of the bedroom. You want room in front of the books so your child can sit or stand while choosing which book to read.
