While on a paper delivery route, Ben Carter, The Advocate Messenger's district manager, came upon two men trapped in a truck in a creekbed surrounded by rising waters on Monday afternoon on¿Mitchellburg's Knob at the Boyle-Casey county line. The two men, one of whom had a broken leg unrelated to the incident, apparently had attempted to drive up the rising creek waters to a cabin that sat up a hill from where they were stuck. The water had forced the truck back, lodging the rear of the truck unsteadily on the sandbar, parallel to the road.

A young Kentucky State Police trooper died Tuesday night in Clark County when his pickup truck collided with a tow truck on Interstate 64. Trooper Anson Blake Tribby, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene near the eastbound 99-mile marker, according to the state police. Tribby was off duty and in a Toyota pickup truck at the time of the crash, police said. State police have not released how the crash occurred. Clark County firefighters were called to the crash scene at 7:17 p.m. Tuesday, about 30 minutes after they responded to a vehicle fire at the 99-mile marker in the westbound lanes, according to the Clark County Fire Department.

An injury accident on Keene Road sent a man to University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center Wednesday afternoon. PERRYVILLE - The driver of a pickup truck was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon after his truck hit a house on North Bragg Street. George Devine, 40, of Harrodsburg was charged with second offense of driving under the influence of intoxicants by Perryville Police Chief Merl Baldwin and taken to the Boyle County Detention Center at 4:47 p.m., according to Danville-Boyle County 911 records. Devine was released after posting a $200 bond. Devine said today that a tire on his truck blew, causing the vehicle to leave the street and hit a corner of the house at 109 N. Bragg St. His 1996 Chevrolet pickup got stuck in the front yard of the house and had to be removed by a tow truck, he said.

A house, a parked car and two law enforcement vehicles were damaged after the same car crashed twice early today in Danville. Witnesses saw a white Chevrolet Impala speeding down Chestnut Street about midnight when the driver lost control, hit a parked Pontiac Grand Prix, flipped over and one of the two vehicles slid into a house at 450 Caldwell St., Assistant Police Chief Tony Gray said. Witnesses reported three black males ran from the car, and police were still looking for them this morning, he said.

An accident on U.S. 27, north of Nicholasville, left one woman injured Tuesday afternoon. The accident happened around 12:50 p.m. when a silver Toyota Camry attempted to make a left-hand turn onto Lexington Road from Howard Lane. The male driver of the silver Camry didn't see a woman traveling in a green Toyota Corolla in the southbound lane of Lexington Road and collided with her, Nicholasville Police Sgt. Matt Godsey said. The man driving the Camry did not complain of any injuries, but the woman in the Corolla was taken by Jessamine County Emergency Medical Services to St. Joseph-Jessamine RJ Corman Ambulatory Care Center by ambulance from the scene.

Harrodsburg driver charged after injury crash  HARRODSBURG - An Ohio man was injured Saturday morning when another driver, later charged with driving under the influence, crashed into a box truck being hooked up to a wrecker along Cummins Ferry Road. Mercer County Deputy Scott Elder said Ronnie Shoemaker of Hillsboro, Ohio,was first transported to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical and later airlifted to the University of Kentucky Medical Center for treatment of undetermined injuries.

No one was hurt in a single-vehicle wreck Wednesday morning on Ashgrove Road approximately 2 miles east of U.S. 27. Heading toward Tates Creek Road just before 8 a.m., a white Ford truck hauling an empty trailer swerved off the road and flipped.   According to the driver another vehicle had entered his lane forcing him off the road, Jessamine County Sheriff Sgt. Andy Neyman said. The driver, who asked to remain unidentified, emerged from his pick-up truck unscathed. The driver of the other vehicle was not at the scene.

PAINT LICK - A Crab Orchard man is dead after his pickup ran off a road in Garrard County, flipped and landed on top of him. Micah Shearer, 37, of Gaffney road, and two passengers were ejected from the truck Shearer was driving during the wreck, state police said. Shearer was pronounced dead at the scene by the Garrard County Coroner Daryl Hodge. Hodge said it appears the truck flipped once, then rolled several times. The truck came to rest on top of Shearer, who died "immediately" from massive head and chest injuries.

Tow truck driver Troy Gerlach, 49, pulled up to a stranded sedan on Wednesday, puffed out his white-whiskered cheeks and chuckled. “Do you see that?” he asked, grinning. “The keys are locked in. The car’s running, and it’s in reverse. That’s a good un’.” Gerlach, a 21-year veteran at Allen’s Service and Towing on East Lexington Avenue, has seen everything from a van lodged inside a building to a pickup truck inches from entering a creek.
