To the editor, The new traffic light on the bypass near Copper River Grill needs to go. I have frequently seen a whole line of traffic coming from the direction of Ky. 169 have to stop for one car that needed to cross the highway. Cars coming out of there should have to turn right and if they need to go south, do a U-turn at Ky. 169. People coming south to go to Copper River should have to go to the next light and make a U-turn. This is a bypass, but at the present rate it will bypass nothing.

An accident Wednesday afternoon resulted in a semitrailer practically wrapping around a traffic light pole and spilling about 100 gallons of diesel fuel, and sent the driver of the truck to the hospital with minor injuries. The accident happened just after 2 p.m., when the driver applied his brakes as the light at Brannon Crossing and U.S. 27 turned red as he was heading toward Lexington, said Nicholasville police officer Kevin Grimes. The fuel spill caused officers close one northbound lane of U.S. 27 for safety reasons, Grimes said.

To the editor, I'm just writing about the article I read concerning the traffic light on Main and High streets. There are hundreds of people who live off of High Street and that intersection is the only way we have of getting out of our neighborhood. So it takes all of us at least 10 minutes to get out every time we try to leave our homes. There is also a church and a few businesses off of this street. We do not have an option to go out any other way. It is also a lot safer for the school buses to exit High Street with the signal light.

The Danville City Commission voted unanimously Monday to endorse a state Department of Transportation plan to install a traffic light on Lexington Avenue at Seminole Trail, though one commissioner abstained because of a lack of detail provided about how the new light would affect traffic flow. Mayor John W.D. Bowling said the state did not set a schedule for installing the light in asking for the commission's endorsement, but the work is likely to begin soon, within a month or two. Commissioner Terry Crowley refused to endorse the plan.

In the coming weeks, Nicholasville motorists will see the light between High and Lake Streets ... a traffic light, that is. Responding to a request from the city of Nicholasville, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will soon erect a traffic light in the area. The traffic light couldn't come soon enough for Mayor John Martin, who said the city has been pushing for a signal in the area for several years. A traffic switch planned for Friday will mark another milestone for the U.S. 27 project in northern Garrard County, but work will continue on the road. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet said traffic will switch at 9 a.m. Friday onto both new southbound lanes and one of the new northbound lanes. Only one northbound lane will be open for the time being, except for about a mile at the south end of the project where two northbound lanes open. When the traffic light at the intersection of Ky. 34 and the new U.S. 27 becomes active Friday, the light at the “T” intersection of the existing U.S. 27 and Ky. 34 near Camp Dick will become a flashing red light.
